DescriptionThe whole story▼
There is no graphic to explain here. The Vector II Carbon in matt is the shell itself — 6K weave running unbroken from the chin bar to the rear spoiler, sealed under a satin coat that absorbs light rather than bouncing it back.
A carbon shell in six sizes
The shell is 6K carbon — not a carbon-look wrap, not a carbon-flecked composite, but woven carbon fibre laid up as the structural layer. That is what gets a full-face with a drop-down sun visor down to 1400 g.
🔵 Six separate shells cover XXS to 4XL. The alternative is padding out a mid-size shell, which adds mass at the top and makes small helmets look oversized.
No rating of its own — and what does transfer from the composite
🔵 This helmet carries no independent safety rating, and the stars from its sibling are not being borrowed.
SHARP rates an „LS2 Vector 2" at 4 stars, tested February 2025 — but records the tested helmet as composite fibre, 1.5 kg. That is the HPFC version, not this carbon shell at 1400 g.
Airflow that reaches your head
The Dynamic Flow-Through system runs air from the chin and forehead intakes, along ducts in the polystyrene, and out at the back.
🔵 Because the channels are moulded in the EPS rather than merely under the shell, the air reaches your head instead of stalling against the liner.
About the matt carbon finish
Matt is the quieter of the two plain carbon options. The satin clear coat reads almost charcoal in flat light and only shows the weave when the sun catches it at an angle, which suits a blacked-out bike and suits a compact helmet — there is nothing travelling along the curves to distract from the shape six shell sizes have made properly proportioned. It is also the most forgiving surface in the range: fine swirl marks from a season of washing do not stand out the way they do on gloss, and there is no clear coat gloss for handling marks to catch in. 🔵 One care rule matters more on carbon than on any painted helmet. The satin lacquer is thin and it is the only thing between ultraviolet and the resin matrix underneath. Wash it, never polish it — abrasive compound cuts straight through a satin coat and leaves a permanently glossy scar. Never use solvent, petrol or alcohol, and park it out of full sun where you reasonably can. Between the two plain carbon finishes at 322 € the decision is purely about presence. Matt reads as a dark, dense object and only reveals the weave when the light is right; gloss shows the material constantly. Neither costs anything the other does not, and both are the cheapest way into a six-shell carbon helmet.
Three visors, one helmet
Three visors, one helmet. A wide hardcoated visor with UV protection is fitted, a complete tinted screen is supplied in the box, and a drop-down sun visor is built into the shell.
🟢 The Pinlock® 120 MaxVision™ anti-fog insert is included as well — every light condition covered without a further purchase.
Holding on, and letting go
A reinforced chin strap with a micrometric metal fastener does the holding. The EPS is multi-density rather than a single block, and emergency-release tabs let a paramedic remove the cheek pads without lifting the helmet.
🔵 The last of those matters more on a close-fitting helmet than on a loose one.
The part you actually touch
A breathable, hypoallergenic liner with X-Static® silver treatment, cut by laser so the edges stay flat against your skin. It lifts out for washing, and the shell is prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit.
🟢 X-Static is one of the two things the carbon version genuinely adds over the composite Vector II, which LS2 does not list with it.
Carbon or composite — which Vector II to buy
🔵 The comparison that decides this purchase is against the composite FF811 Vector II: 1500 g, 4 SHARP stars, Certimoov 3.5 of 5, from 220 €.
This carbon version is 100 g lighter, adds X-Static, costs about 100 € more — and has no independent rating.
Care and replacement parts
The parts that wear are all replaceable: both visors, the internal sun visor, the Pinlock insert, cheek pads in several thicknesses, the complete lining and the vent covers.
🔵 The multi-density EPS is not among them. It crushes once and does not recover.

Specification
- Model — LS2 FF811 Vector II Carbon
- Part number — 168115098
- Colour — Solid — Matt carbon
- Homologation — ECE 22.06
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP's „LS2 Vector 2" 4 stars (02/2025) records composite fibre, 1.5 kg — the HPFC version, not this carbon at 1400 g. Not carried over
- 🟢 What does transfer — Certimoov rated the FF811 platform 3.5/5 on a fibreglass Splitter. Compactness and field of vision transfer (shared geometry); impact scores do not. 🔵 criticised: getting the helmet on, and the sun visor mechanism
- Shell — 6K woven carbon, structural — not a carbon-look wrap; six shell sizes (2XS–XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL–3XL–4XL)
- Impact liner — multi-density EPS with ventilation ducts moulded through the foam
- Weight — approx. 1400 g (±50 g). 🔵 the composite Vector II is 1500 g — carbon saves 100 g for about 100 € more
- Sizes — XXS to 4XL (nine sizes). Shell prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit; no system supplied
- Visor — wide, hardcoated, UV-protected, quick-change
- Sun visor — integrated drop-down shield, stowing fully inside the shell. 🔵 Certimoov called the mechanism improvable
- 🟢 Included — Pinlock® 120 XLT MaxVision™, a complete tinted visor, a carrying backpack and reflective stickers
- 🔴 Tinted visor — daylight only — most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night
- Ventilation — Dynamic Flow-Through — chin and forehead intakes, ducts in the EPS, rear exit. 🔵 left unrated: nothing measured on the carbon version
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
- Retention — reinforced strap, micrometric metal fastener, emergency-release tabs for the cheek pads
- Interior — breathable, hypoallergenic, X-Static® silver, laser-cut, removable. 🔵 the composite Vector II is not listed with X-Static
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
- Serviceability — both visors, sun visor, Pinlock insert, cheek pads (several thicknesses), lining and vent covers
- Replacement guidance — after about five years, and immediately after any impact — carbon hides a crushed liner
