DescriptionThe whole story▼
Sky blue over black is the brightest non-white version of the composite X.WST3 and the one that photographs best. Light blue is unusual enough on a road helmet to be noticed and neutral enough not to date.
A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works
The X.WST3 sits in Nexx's road range rather than the adventure one, and every design decision follows from that: a fixed aerodynamic shell, an internal sun visor, a micrometric ratchet rather than a double-D ring, and ventilation tuned for road speed.
🔵 If you want a peak and goggle compatibility, the X.RALLY and X.WED3 are the helmets for that. This one is built for tarmac.
About the B-Side Sky Blue Black graphic
Light blue occupies useful ground between the neutrals and the loud colours. It keeps a genuinely high value, so it does much of what a white helmet does for conspicuity in flat urban light, but it is a colour rather than an absence of one — which means it works alongside a motorcycle rather than disappearing next to it. It is also one of the few shades that has never really belonged to a decade, so it will look current for longer than a saturated colour would. 🔵 The pale areas show road film sooner than the black ones; the black ones hide it. Expect the helmet to weather unevenly between washes.
The X-Matrix2 shell
🔵 The decision that splits this range is the shell. This is the X-Matrix2 version: multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite, 1675 g, and noticeably cheaper than the carbon equivalent.
Everything else — Anti-Vibration EPS, Recoil visor, internal sun visor, F.R.S., X-COM3 provision, rear spoiler — is identical between the two.
| Shell | Construction | Weight | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite | 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) | Plain, B-Side |
| X-PRO Carbon 3K | 3K carbon fibre | 1600 g claimed | Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava |
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
🔵 Be precise about the claim. A rubber trim between inner and outer EPS allows micro-movements that reduce the helmet vibration caused by high-speed air turbulence. That is what Nexx says, and it is a stability and comfort claim rather than a protection one.
The impact work is done by the EPS itself and by the X-Foam bumper at the chin.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag
Twin-lip beads are the detail behind the seal. Most visors close against a single contact line; a double lip gives the spring-loaded plates something to compress, which keeps water out and holds down the whistle that leaks around a visor edge.
🔵 That is part of why the measured noise figure is 100 dB on a shell this aggressively shaped.
Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement
Cheek-pad ventilation is worth singling out because few helmets have it. Air entering at the cheeks reaches the lower half of the head, which a crown-only system never cools — and on a road helmet that is where fogging and heat build first.
🔵 The overall ventilation score in independent testing was 4 out of 5.
How quiet it actually is
🔵 Earplugs are not an admission that a helmet is loud. Hearing damage from wind noise is cumulative and permanent, and it happens at speeds most riders consider ordinary — a set of moulded plugs is the best comfort purchase after the helmet itself.
For the record, the X.WST3 measured 100 dB and scored 4/5.
Interior, retention and fit
The removable breath guard is worth fitting even if you take it out in summer. It redirects exhaled air downwards rather than up the inside of the visor, which is what stops the visor misting at a standstill — and it also blocks a noise path from under the chin bar.
The interior around it is X-Mart Dry, fully removable and washable.
1675 grams claimed, 1673 measured
Three outer shell sizes mean the weight you actually receive depends heavily on your size — an XXXL in the largest shell carries considerably more material than an XXS in the smallest.
🔵 The published figure of 1675 g was confirmed at 1673 g on a size M, so it is a mid-range rather than a best-case number.
Comms, camera and spare parts
🔵 Check comms fit before buying the comms. X-COM3 integrates into this shell properly; a third-party unit will physically work but will not use the cable slots, the battery recess or the microphone position, and speaker depth varies enough between brands to cause pressure over a long day.
The PRO version adds 2.0 Mesh networking and Harman Kardon sound over the Standard.
