DescriptionThe whole story▼
Grey and black with fluorescent yellow is the high-visibility FURKA, and it takes the opposite approach to the KEYO White Neon: a dark, dirt-hiding ground with the bright element used as an accent rather than a field.
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
🔵 A structural comfort feature is rarer than a padding one and harder to undo with a bad liner choice. The X.WED3's rubber interlayer between inner and outer EPS works regardless of which cheek pads you fit or how you have set the vents.
Its purpose is damping the vibration that air turbulence transmits at speed — a fatigue problem rather than a safety one.
About the FURKA Grey Neon graphic
There is a real argument for putting fluorescent on a dark ground rather than a pale one. The dark areas absorb the dust and spatter that make a bright helmet look neglected within a day, while the fluorescent keeps working in exactly the conditions where dark colours fail — overcast, dusk, deep shade, dust haze. The result is a helmet that stays visible and stays looking cared for, which no fully bright finish manages on a real trip. 🔵 Fluorescent pigment still fades faster than any other type under sustained UV, and there is no care regime that stops it — only storage out of direct light slows it.
The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers
🔵 If you are weighing carbon against composite in this range, the honest summary is: 65 g on paper, a noticeable step in price, and no difference in approvals, features, EPS structure or bumper protection.
The carbon shell is X-PRO Carbon at 1725 g claimed; the composite is X-Matrix2 at 1790 g.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass + 3D organic fibre, Kevlar/aramid, carbon reinforced | 1790 g ±50 | Plain, GOBI |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1725 g | Wild Pro, KEYO, FURKA, Zero Pro, Golden Dune |
F.R.S.® — both cheek pads at once
Removing a full-face helmet from someone lying injured means getting it past the jaw, and the cheek pads are what makes that difficult. Take them out first and the helmet lifts almost straight off.
🔵 F.R.S.® makes that a single tool-free action rather than two separate ones: rubberised arms up, red buttons back, both pads free.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the second shield in the box
Nexx supplies the anti-fog lens fitted rather than boxed, which sounds like a detail and is not: a Pinlock lens installed at the factory sits on correctly tensioned pins, where a badly seated one distorts and leaks air at the edges.
🔵 When it eventually clouds, order the Pinlock 70 MaxVision for this helmet rather than a generic insert.
Seven intakes — and a measurement that disagrees
The intakes on this helmet are large and physically obvious, which is a deliberate off-road decision: a vent you can find and operate in gloves matters more than one that is aerodynamically neat.
🔵 All seven close. The measured cooling result from the one independent scored test available was 1 out of 5.
How loud it actually is
🔵 Do not compare decibel figures across publications. Method, speed, motorcycle and screen all change the number, and there is no standard for helmet noise measurement.
The X.WED3's 103 dB at 130 km/h and 3/5 score come from one independent road test and are most useful against that test's other results.
Interior, materials and fit
Three outer shell sizes across eight helmet sizes is generous and it is what keeps the smallest X.WED3 from feeling oversized. XXS–S, M–L and XL–XXXL each get their own shell.
Inside every one: Air Cumbs crown pad with alveolar mesh, X-Mart Dry liner, faux leather and mesh trim, and F.R.S. cheek pads.
1725 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 If you are cross-shopping, weigh this against the trade Nexx made. The X.WED3 is heavier than most adventure helmets because of the Anti-Vibration EPS and the Mid Airflow Chamber — the two features that make it distinctive.
Claimed weight 1725 g; measured ventilation 1/5; measured noise 103 dB; no SHARP rating.
Goggles, comms, camera and spare parts
Genuine parts matter more on a helmet than on most things, because the visor, the peak and the retention system are part of what was certified to ECE 22-06. A pattern part that behaves differently is not the helmet that was approved.
Everything we stock for the X.WED3 is Nexx's own.
