Shell Construction and Build Quality
The foundation of the R2R Octane is its ADT thermoplastic shell — a material chosen specifically for its combination of rigidity under impact and the flexibility needed to manage energy dispersion effectively. KYT manufactures the shell in two distinct sizes rather than stretching a single mould across the entire range. The result is a helmet that sits correctly on the head at every size, with proportions that look right and padding that actually makes contact where it should. The Octane Matte Yellow finish is applied with a flat lacquer that resists superficial scuffing and gives the graphic genuine depth without any gloss distraction.
Dual Visor System
Clear vision in changing light is a matter of safety, not comfort alone. The R2R addresses this with a scratch-resistant outer visor offering UV380 protection, a tool-free visor-change mechanism, and a central locking lever that holds the visor firmly at any chosen position. The integrated drop-down sun visor is operated from the left side of the shell — reachable at speed without removing a hand from the bar. A Pinlock MaxVision 70 insert is already fitted, so the helmet is ready to perform in cold, damp British conditions straight out of the box.
Hydrocool Interior and Ventilation
Inside, the Hydrocool lining actively wicks moisture and dissipates heat, keeping the environment around the rider's head stable on longer rides and in warmer conditions. The cheek pads feature a quick-release system for emergency removal, and the ear pockets are cut to accept intercom speakers without bunching. Riders who use spectacles will find the padding shaped to prevent pressure on the arms of their frames. The entire lining is removable and machine washable.
Two large front intake vents draw fresh air through internal channels that run across the crown, while a rear spoiler exhausts the warm air continuously. The airflow reduces visor misting and keeps interior temperatures manageable across a wide range of riding conditions — from a spirited morning commute to a long summer touring day.

Take out the washable lining and hand-wash it in lukewarm water. Clean the shell and visor with a soft cloth and water only — never solvents.
