Breeze is the third artwork in the Neotec 3 range and the softest of them — where Sharpen works in angles and Fragments in broken forms, Breeze runs along the shell rather than across it. In TC-2 it is executed in Shoei's light blue palette.

Five stars from SHARP — and the number behind them

SHARP's zone testing is what produces the star count, and understanding it makes the rating more useful. Each helmet is struck at five sites — crown, front, rear, left and right — at three increasing speeds, and every zone is scored separately before being combined.

The Neotec 3's combined result is five stars out of five, from a February 2024 test under ECE 22.06, with the chin bar remaining locked in 93 % of impacts.

About the Breeze TC-2 colourway

A graphic that follows the airflow lines of a shell instead of cutting across them is doing something specific, and on this helmet it is worth noticing. The Neotec 3's aerodynamic development went into smooth transitions and closed panel gaps in pursuit of quietness, and an artwork drawn along those same lines makes the shape legible rather than obscuring it — you can see where the air is meant to go. Hard-edged graphics on a helmet like this always sit slightly at odds with what the shell is doing. The light blue palette adds a practical note as well: pale colours are read as larger and nearer by an approaching driver than dark ones of the same physical size, which is a small but genuine advantage on a helmet meant for long days on main roads.

P and J, and what ECE 22.06 actually tests

ECE 22.06 has been mandatory for new helmets sold in the EU since January 2024, and it is the reason 22.05 stock vanished from shelves so abruptly. It tests more points, at more speeds, with a rotation measurement the old standard did not have.

The Neotec 3 carries it with the P/J suffix: certified as a protective full-face and, separately, as a jet with the chin bar raised.

AIM, three shells, and the steel that holds the chin bar

The whole structure is a series of layers doing different jobs: an AIM laminate that spreads impact across the shell, a multi-density EPS core that crushes to absorb it, a comfort liner that positions the head, and a stainless steel latch holding the chin bar into the load path.

Sizes XS to XXL run across three separate shells, so none of those layers is oversized for the head inside it.

CNS-3C and QSV-2 — and the Neotec II trap

An integrated sun visor has to be part of a helmet's ECE submission rather than added afterwards, because 22.06 tests everything fitted to the shell as fitted. That is why retrofitting one is not possible, and why the QSV-2's presence in this helmet is a design decision made years before it reached a shelf.

It deploys steplessly and covers the field of view below the eyeline. The outer screen is the CNS-3C.

Quiet by design, and what that costs in airflow

The vent controls are raised and shaped to be found without looking, which matters more than it sounds when the alternative is taking a hand off the bars at speed to hunt for a slider. With winter gloves on they are workable; with summer gloves they are effortless.

🔵 What they control is a network sized for quiet rather than for volume. This helmet keeps you comfortable in cold and wet far better than in heat.

Noise Isolator, glasses, and talking to the helmet

The vertical adjustment is the feature most owners never discover. An insertable pad raises or lowers how the helmet sits on the head, which changes where the visor aperture falls relative to your eyeline — the difference between looking through the middle of the screen and looking through its upper edge on a sports bike.

It fits alongside the standard three-dimensionally shaped centre pad, and both come out for washing.

Where it sits in Shoei's range

Worth one line on what is not in this table: nothing Shoei makes is cheap, and there are five-star helmets at a third of these prices in SHARP's database. What you are buying at this level is the combination — rating, acoustics, sun visor, shell sizes, serviceability — rather than any single number.

1750 grams, and the rest of the honest list

Read the ventilation limitation against your own riding rather than in the abstract. Cold, wet, long-distance riding is where this helmet is exceptional and where the tight shell works entirely in your favour. Slow, hot, urban riding is where you will wish for more air — and where the open chin bar, drag and all, becomes the practical answer.

Weight throughout is 1750 g.

When something wears out

A scratched visor is a safety part rather than a cosmetic one, which is the argument for replacing it sooner than feels necessary. Scratches are invisible in daylight and scatter oncoming headlights into a starburst after dark — and the tool-free quick-change on this helmet removes the usual excuse for leaving it.
