DescriptionThe whole story

Zero Pro is the X.WST3 reduced to its shell: exposed 3K weave, no graphic over it. If you are paying for carbon, this is the version that lets you see exactly what you bought.

A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works

Three shell sizes cover XXS to XXXL, which on a helmet with this much visual presence matters more than usual — an oversized shell on a small head turns an aggressive design into a caricature.

🔵 The helmet is built at Nexx's own factory in Portugal and carries ECE 22-06, DOT, CCC and NBR approvals.

About the Zero Pro Carbon finish

3K refers to the tow — three thousand filaments per bundle — and it is the weave size that produces the familiar chequerboard pattern rather than the fine or coarse alternatives. On a shell with this much curvature it is the one that follows the shape most cleanly. The appeal is obvious and the caveat is equally so: a deep scratch through the lacquer into exposed weave is permanent, where paint can be touched in. 🔵 It is also the least conspicuous version in the range, because carbon reads as very dark grey in every light condition that matters. In city traffic that is worth weighing.

The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell

Four homologations apply to both shells in this range — ECE 22-06, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022, NBR7471:2015. Carbon is a weight decision, not a certification one.

This is the X-PRO Carbon 3K construction at 1600 g, with an X-Foam EPP bumper at the chin, built in Portugal.

Shell Construction Weight Decors
X-Matrix2 multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite 1675 g claimed — 1673 g measured (size M) Plain, B-Side
X-PRO Carbon 3K 3K carbon fibre 1600 g claimed Manga, Zero Pro, Hadal, Lava

Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer

Splitting the impact liner and decoupling the halves with rubber is an unusual thing to do and it costs weight — which is part of why this helmet scored 2/5 for weight in independent testing.

🔵 Nexx made the trade deliberately: a heavier helmet in exchange for a quieter, steadier one at speed.

Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag

The internal sun visor is the feature that makes this a genuinely usable everyday helmet rather than a fair-weather one. It deploys and retracts in a second, it is 18 % larger than the previous generation's, and it removes any need for a tinted outer visor.

🔵 The outer visor stays clear and Pinlock-equipped (DKS553), which is the correct combination for year-round riding.

Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement

🔵 If you ride in traffic in summer, ventilation is the specification you will notice most, and this is one of the areas where the X.WST3 measurably outperforms its own siblings. Independent testing scored it 4/5.

The system: six intakes, two exhausts, cheek-pad ventilation, and two separate internal air chambers.

How quiet it actually is

🔵 Do not compare decibel figures across publications. Method, speed, motorcycle and screen all change the number, and there is no standard for helmet noise measurement.

The X.WST3's 100 dB and 4/5 score come from one independent road test and are most useful against that test's other results — where they place it among the better performers.

Interior, retention and fit

Washing the interior is a ten-second job on this helmet thanks to F.R.S.®: both cheek pads release together, tool-free. The crown pad and chin-strap covers come out separately.

🔵 Sweat breaks down foam over time; a liner washed a few times a season lasts appreciably longer than one that never is.

1600 grams, and the rest of the honest list

The weight is structural rather than careless: two EPS shells with a rubber interlayer, an X-Foam chin bumper, an internal sun visor mechanism and a functional rear spoiler. Carbon removes 75 g of it and leaves the rest.

🔵 1600 g claimed for this shell; independent testing scored the model 2/5 for weight.

Comms, camera and spare parts

Bluetooth 5.2 in both X-COM3 versions is worth a note: it is the connection standard, not the feature set. What separates PRO from Standard is 2.0 Mesh networking — which lets a group stay connected without pairing every rider to every other — and Harman Kardon audio.

🔵 Both are separate purchases from the helmet.

“The carbon X.WST3 takes 125 g out of an already good sport-touring helmet — a fair exchange, unlike the X.TR where carbon adds weight. Same venting, same quietness, same wide size range.”
