DescriptionThe whole story▼
FURKA is the second carbon graphic family and takes a more geometric approach than KEYO. In black and grey with an orange accent it is the most restrained of the five — structure rather than livery.
Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer
Splitting the impact liner and decoupling the halves with rubber is an unusual thing to do, and Nexx did it for a specific reason: an adventure helmet spends hours in turbulent air with a peak acting as a vibration source.
Anti-Vibration EPS lets the inner shell micro-move so less of that reaches you. The claimed result is a more stable head and a smoother ride.
About the FURKA Black Grey graphic
Two graphic families exist on the carbon shell because they are aimed at different riders. KEYO is the busier, more colourful drawing; FURKA is harder-edged and works in larger blocks, which suits the X.WED3's rather angular shell better from the side. In this colourway the orange is an accent rather than a field, which means the helmet reads as dark from a distance and only resolves into a design up close. 🔵 That makes it among the least conspicuous carbon versions, and it also makes it the best of them at hiding a week of trail dust. Choose accordingly.
The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers
Three outer shell sizes across eight helmet sizes is generous and it is what keeps the smallest X.WED3 from looking oversized. XXS–S, M–L and XL–XXXL each get their own shell.
The construction here is X-PRO Carbon, 1725 g claimed, with the two-part Anti-Vibration EPS beneath and X-Foam bumpers at chin and sides.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors |
|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | multiaxial fibreglass + 3D organic fibre, Kevlar/aramid, carbon reinforced | 1790 g ±50 | Plain, GOBI |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1725 g | Wild Pro, KEYO, FURKA, Zero Pro, Golden Dune |
F.R.S.® — both cheek pads at once
Interior washing on this helmet starts with two buttons. The F.R.S.® system releases both cheek pads simultaneously and tool-free, and the crown pad and chin-strap covers come out separately.
🔵 The same system is what a first responder would use, which is the reason it is engineered rather than improvised.
Recoil visor, sun visor and the second shield in the box
Look after the visor and it will outlast the padding. Never wipe a dry visor — trail dust is far more abrasive than road film, and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights.
🔵 Wet it first, every time. A second visor is supplied with the helmet, which makes a scratched one less of a trip-ending problem.
Seven intakes — and a measurement that disagrees
🔵 Two things are true at once and both belong on this page. Nexx fits seven closable intakes, four exhausts and a patent-pending inter-EPS air chamber — more ventilation engineering than almost any adventure helmet carries. And a scored independent road test rated the measured cooling 1 out of 5.
We would rather you knew both than only the flattering one.
How loud it actually is
Most of what you hear on an adventure helmet is turbulence rather than airflow, and turbulence comes from edges — the peak's trailing edge above all. That is why removing it changes the character of the sound and not just its volume.
🔵 Measured with the peak fitted: 103 dB average at 130 km/h, 3/5.
Interior, materials and fit
The Air Cumbs crown pad sits directly under the Mid Airflow Chamber's outlet path, which is why the alveolar mesh is stitched into it rather than laid against it — the two are designed as one system.
🔵 The measured cooling outcome was still 1/5. The comfort outcome, from the same test, was 3.5/5.
1725 grams, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 Manufacturer helmet weights are quoted for a specific size, usually the smallest in the shell, and often without the peak or the accessories a customer receives. Treat 1725 g as a floor rather than a typical figure.
Three outer shell sizes mean an XXXL carries considerably more material than an XXS.
Goggles, comms, camera and spare parts
🔵 Check comms fit before buying the comms. X-COM3 integrates fully into this shell; a third-party unit will physically work but will not use the cable slots, the battery recess or the microphone position, and speaker depth varies enough between brands to cause pressure over a long day.
The POV Kit is separate again: top, side and four-position chin mounts.
