DescriptionThe whole story▼
The blue-and-orange Mekarium colourway is the third of four decors in this range that this listing cannot pair with a manufacturer photograph -- Shark's supplier data describes the colour as "Carbon Blue Orange," and that description is what this listing is built from, not a photograph that does not yet exist for this specific code. Everything else about it, from shell to certification, is identical to the rest of the Mekarium graphic across its other colourways.
ECE 22.06 in plain terms
This colourway carries UNECE R 22-06 like the rest of the range does. The rule tightened things considerably versus 22.05: more impact points across the shell, several speeds at each, and a rotational-force reading that simply did not exist under the older standard.
Shell material: what "Carbon" is built from here
Shark's own product tables put this shell under the "Fibre" heading -- a woven blend of fiberglass and carbon, not a solid carbon-aramid lay-up, produced in two shell sizes around a firmness-stepped EPS core. That earns real weight savings over the plain-fibreglass Spartan GT Pro, at a genuine but modest premium.
Weight as something the neck manages, not just a spec number
Shark quotes 1,465 g on this helmet's smaller shell; bigger heads use the second mould and pick up a little extra mass. Read once, that's just a figure; read as neck load across a full riding day, it is the gap between fatigue turning up late in a ride or early.
Ventilation designed with an off position
Air comes in through three front intakes and leaves through two rear extractors on Shark's double-Venturi layout, engineered so it still moves air well under motorway pace. Visordown's own road test found the chin-bar intakes and rear exhaust ports genuinely seal shut, letting this shell run wide open in July heat and locked down in January cold -- airflow the same review scores decent rather than outstanding.
Visor: central lock and factory-fitted Pinlock
This decor's visor comes off the VZ300 platform, the same one fitted to the Spartan RS and Spartan RS Carbon. Glazing meets optical class 1 and tapers from 2.8 mm down to 2.2 mm, locked via a central grip rather than a side catch, with a clear Pinlock 120 insert mounted before it ever leaves the factory. Blue, pink and red iridium tints suit daytime roads; smoke, silver and rainbow stay for the track.
Sun visor and other everyday details
Flip down the internal UV380 anti-fog sun visor with a single slider on the outside, workable with a gloved hand at a stop. Pull the main visor's mount free tool-free for cleaning, note the groove cut for glasses arms, and pair it with either Shark's own Sharktooth unit or a SENA headset.
Safety kit fitted to this shell
An EPS liner stepped across several firmness grades absorbs impact energy, and the strap closes with a double-D ring. A first responder can pull the cheek pads free via Shark's own Emergency Release hardware without moving an injured rider's neck, functionally an EQRS regardless of the branding. MIPS does not appear anywhere in Shark's documentation for this helmet, and none is claimed here.
Interior
ALVEOTECH antimicrobial fabric lines the shell, shaped into 3D morphological cheek pads per Shark's own collection description. Independent testing confirms the whole interior -- pads, neck roll, skull cap -- is removable for washing. Six sizes, XS to XXL, are split across the two shell moulds used throughout the range.
On the missing photograph for this colourway
Blue-and-orange is Shark's own description for this Mekarium colourway, and it is used here as given, without a photograph to check it against -- none had been supplied for this specific colour code at build time. This decor is created and sold with zero product media rather than a stand-in image borrowed from a different colourway, and the colour claim rests on the supplier's wording alone, stated plainly rather than implied to be verified.
Its place on the Spartan price ladder
Shark's own pricing runs four real steps: Spartan RS Fibre at the base, Spartan RS Carbon above it, the non-carbon Spartan GT Pro adding Sport-GT comfort without a carbon shell, and Spartan GT Pro Carbon on top. This decor sits in the middle of that top step, the same tier as the rest of the graphic Mekarium and Silicium 2 finishes.

Wind noise, no invented figure
No trustworthy independent decibel reading exists for this helmet, so none is quoted. BikeSocial credits the 22-06 generation's tighter, elasticated neck roll with cutting wind noise, at a minor cost to how easily the helmet goes on; Visordown separately calls the wind noise kept to a relative minimum in ordinary use. Both remain editorial impressions, not measurements.
Spare parts
Shark sells one visor listing for both the RS and GT Pro ranges, titled "SPARTAN RS & SPARTAN GT PRO compatible visors" on its own site, and the Range Book confirms the same VZ300 part across three Spartan builds. A worn visor is replaceable rather than a reason to retire the helmet.
What is left unshown, stated directly
No product photograph exists for this colourway at build time, and none has been swapped in from another code -- it ships with zero media rather than a misleading placeholder. No MIPS is fitted. SHARP's own test dates to August 2021 and covers a different, older helmet with no "Pro" in its listed name, rated 4 stars -- that score is not carried over here.
