DescriptionThe whole story▼

Laguna Blue lays a lighter blue over a deeper one, and on a full-face that treatment has to solve a problem a jet does not have: the chin bar. A tonal design has to cross it without looking like it was interrupted by it.
Five SHARP stars — and which Glamster earned them
🔵 The single most useful sentence on this page: this helmet looks fifty years old and holds the highest independent safety rating available in Europe. SHARP 5/5, May 2025, ECE 22.06.
Retro styling and modern protection are usually a trade. Here they are not, and the evidence is a laboratory result rather than a claim.
About the Laguna Blue finish
This is the only two-tone solid in the range and the way it handles the chin bar is what makes it work. On most full-face helmets a colour split either stops at the chin bar or jumps awkwardly over it; here both shades stay inside one family, so the transition reads as depth rather than as a boundary. From a few metres it looks like a single blue that shifts as the helmet turns. Blue is also the most forgiving gloss colour to own: it holds less contrast against road film than black and shows less dust than any pale shade, which puts it squarely in the middle of the maintenance range. Conspicuity sits above the dark solids and below the Abiding TC-3. If you want colour on the Glamster06 without paying the graphic premium, this is the one.
AIM, three shells, double-D and EQRS
Nothing about this helmet's construction is period. AIM shell, multi-density polystyrene, EQRS emergency release, double-D retention and full ECE 22.06 approval — the current standard rather than the 22.05 that a good number of classic-styled helmets are still sold against.
🔵 The silhouette is a design choice. The structure underneath is the same engineering Shoei uses across its range.
The CPB-1V visor — and the sun shield that is not there
Pinlock included as standard is not universal at this price and it matters more here than on a touring helmet, because there is no sun visor sitting between your eyes and the screen to add a second surface. A clear, fog-free visor is the whole optical system.
🔵 When the lens eventually needs replacing, order Pinlock EVO DKS056. And note there is no integrated sun shield — a tinted or photochromic CPB-1V takes its place.
One intake, aluminium mesh, no sliders
A binary vent — open or shut, no half positions — sounds like a limitation and is mostly a convenience. You can find it and operate it in winter gloves without looking, which is more than can be said for most three-position sliders.
The forehead intake works that way; the two chin intakes are permanently open behind aluminium mesh, and the exhaust sits at the neck.
Interior, fit and glasses
🔵 Fit is the specification that matters most and the one no description can settle for you. A loose helmet moves under braking and rotates in a crash; a tight one produces a headache at forty minutes. Try it on, keep it on for ten minutes, and notice where it presses.
If it presses in one spot only, a different cheek pad thickness usually fixes it — the interior is fully modular, and the head shape is intermediate oval.
How loud it actually is
A retro shell has to earn its acoustics differently. There is no spoiler to manage the wake, no deep neck roll and no aerodynamic shaping around the visor aperture — so what quiet the Glamster06 has comes from a small frontal area and a well-sealed visor rather than from added hardware.
MCN rated it 4/5, which for this type of helmet is a good result.
Around 1300 grams, and the rest of the honest list
Weight is where a compact shell pays you back daily. At around 1300 g the Glamster06 is roughly 200 g lighter than a typical sport-touring full-face and 450 g lighter than a flip-up — a difference you feel in your neck at the end of a long day rather than in the shop.
🔵 The trade is equipment: no sun visor, no intercom provision, modest ventilation.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
A useful comparison for anyone weighing the two classics. The J•O2 is 70 € less, around 150 g lighter and considerably more open — but it has no chin bar at all, and no SHARP rating exists for any jet because the programme does not test them.
The Glamster06 gives you the same era with full facial coverage and five independently measured stars.
| Model | Type | From |
|---|---|---|
| J•O2 | Jet (classic) | from 399 € |
| Glamster06 | Full-face (neo-retro) | from 469 € |
| J-Cruise 3 | Jet (premium touring) | from 549 € |
| GT-Air3 | Full-face (sport-touring) | from 599 € |
| Neotec 3 | Flip-up (P/J) | from 669 € |
| X-SPR PRO | Full-face (racing) | from 799 € |
When something wears out
🔵 Order visors by the CPB-1V designation rather than by the helmet name. The Glamster family has its own visor, and it does not interchange with the CNS visors from Shoei's touring helmets or the CJ series from the jets, however similar the fitting looks.
Tinted and photochromic versions are both available, along with DKS056 Pinlock lenses.

“The retro full-face done properly: vintage silhouette, modern homologation, five SHARP stars and a visor seal that keeps it quiet. It loses ground here only to open-face helmets, which fit the café racer brief more literally.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
Five SHARP stars and four shell sizes on a retro shell.
A genuine vintage look with none of the vintage compromises.
Comfortable, with a rubber seal around the visor aperture.
1,300 g — light.
The weak point: the chin vents are always open and only demist.
Very quiet for a retro shell, though the wide neck lets some in.
Five SHARP stars in a retro helmet has no rival.
