Matt grey is the most practical finish MT offers on this shell, and on a helmet with this many detachable parts it is the one that asks least of you over a few years.

Four helmets in one shell

🔵 A convertible is a compromise by design, and the honest version is this: it does four jobs adequately rather than any of them perfectly. A dedicated full-face is quieter and better sealed, a dedicated jet is lighter, and neither has a join across the chin.

What the Streetfighter SV S offers is one helmet that changes with the day instead of a shelf of them.

The removable chin guard — what it is approved to do

🔵 A helmet that looks like a full-face is not automatically certified as one, and the Streetfighter SV S is the case that makes the distinction matter. MT publishes ECE 22.06 and DOT; it does not publish the P/J dual homologation that would certify the chin guard as protective structure.

The approval label on the strap is the authority here, not the shape of the helmet. Check it, and judge the chin guard on what it says rather than on what the silhouette suggests.

About the Belic B2 graphic

Value rather than colour decides both how dirty a helmet looks and how quickly it is seen, and a mid grey sits at the useful point on that scale for both at once. Road film and dried rain marks show least here — they read as haze on black and as obvious marks on white — and a driver's eye resolves a mid-value object against dark tarmac appreciably faster than a dark one. On a convertible there is a third benefit that the other two finishes miss: grey shows the chin guard, the vent covers and the camera mount as deliberate components rather than as dark shapes on a dark helmet, which is how they were designed to be seen. Under a matt finish it also absorbs the handling marks that come from taking a helmet apart and putting it back together several times a week. 🔵 Conspicuity sits above the black and below the white, and like every matt finish it is washed rather than polished — no abrasive polish, ever.

HIRP and about 1.5 kilograms

The structure is conventional and appropriate for the price: an injection-moulded HIRP outer to spread load and resist penetration, over an EPS liner that absorbs energy by permanently crushing.

🔵 A crushed liner does not recover. After any real impact the helmet is finished, whatever it looks like from outside — and that applies to every one of the four configurations.

Sun shield and outer visor

Sunset on a westbound commute is the condition that decides whether a drop-down sun visor was worth having, and it is the condition a fixed tinted visor handles worst — half an hour later it is dark and you cannot see through it.

🔵 The retractable shield covers exactly that case and retracts in a second. It works with the outer visor fitted, removed, or with the chin guard off entirely.

Intakes, exhausts and the vent covers in the box

🔵 The configuration does more for ventilation than any vent design can. Take the chin guard off and the helmet moves more air than a full-face ever will; put it back on with the covers fitted and it becomes a reasonable cold-weather helmet.

That range — from summer jet to sealed winter helmet — is the whole argument for owning a convertible.

The MT-MDTC closure

🔵 A loose strap is the most common way a helmet fails to do its job, and on a convertible it matters more than usual — with the chin guard removed there is nothing under your jaw helping to hold the helmet in place.

The MT-MDTC closure adjusts finely enough to get it right. Check it periodically and after anyone else has worn it.

Interior, fit and washing

Fit is the specification that matters most and the one no description settles for you. Head circumference gets you to the right size; head shape decides whether it is comfortable, and no padding change fixes a shape mismatch.

🔵 Try it on and keep it on for ten minutes. A helmet you can rotate by hand with the strap fastened is too big, whatever the tape says.

SportCam mount and intercom provision

The three things MT includes here that competitors usually charge for are the SportCam mount, the vent covers and the retractable sun visor. Together they are much of the reason this helmet reads as better value than its price suggests.

🔵 The camera and the intercom are not included, and outer visors in other colours are sold separately.

Where it sits in MT's range

Within this model the price ladder is entirely paint. The Pure version at 115 € and the two Belic graphics at 123 € share the same shell, the same chin guard, the same sun shield and the same closure.

🔵 The cheapest Streetfighter SV S protects exactly as well as the most expensive.

When something wears out

Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. MT, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact.

🔵 Never use solvents, petrol or alcohol on a thermoplastic shell; the damage is invisible at first and structural afterwards.
