A pink modular is unusual at any price, and this one is worth pointing out because it is a proper saturated pink rather than a pastel afterthought — and because gloss gives it a depth a matt version would lose.

A chin guard that opens — and the P/J question

The Genesis R SV is MT's accessible modular — the flip-up format at a price closer to a mid-range full-face than to a touring helmet.

About the Lancer B8 finish

Colour choices on mid-range helmets usually play safe, and this one does not, which is most of its appeal. Practically it is a high-value finish, so it carries a genuine conspicuity benefit in the flat light where a touring rider most needs one — without going fluorescent. It is also one of very few options in this class for a rider who does not want black, grey or white. 🔵 The trade is the usual one for bright gloss: road film shows readily, dry-wiping leaves swirls, and saturated pigments fade faster than dark ones under sustained sun.

HIRP, ECE 22.06 — and the weight MT does not publish

What you are buying structurally: a HIRP thermoplastic shell, a polystyrene impact liner, and full ECE 22.06 homologation.

🔵 What you are not buying is a composite shell, a DOT approval, or a published weight figure.

The integrated sun visor

Two screens sit in front of your eyes on this helmet: the wide-field 935 main visor, and the integrated drop-down shield behind it.

🔵 Between them there is no light condition on a European road that needs a visor change — which matters on a helmet with no anti-fog insert supplied.

The 935 visor and the Pinlock you buy separately

The visor is where the Genesis R SV most clearly sits below MT's Atom 2 SV: no fast-opening system with an automatic anti-fog position, no dedicated ventilation position on the release, and no Pinlock lens included.

Interior, fit and intercom spaces

Measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows, and compare against the chart on this page. The Genesis R SV runs from XS to XXL.

🔵 Between two sizes, take the one that does not move when you push the helmet forward with the strap fastened.

The micrometric closure

A closure is the least glamorous part of a helmet and the one that has to work every single time. On a modular, where the chin guard is a second thing that must stay shut, the strap is the one you control directly.

🔵 It is a micrometric ratchet, and it needs its adjustment checked every few months.

Where it sits in MT's range

The most useful way to place this helmet: it is the least expensive way into a modular from a brand that builds them properly, with the compromises stated openly — ECE only, no Pinlock supplied, no published weight.

🔵 For a rider who wants a flip-up rather than the best flip-up, that is a reasonable trade.

When something wears out

Washing the lining is the single most effective maintenance you can do, and when washing is no longer enough, complete replacement linings and cheek pads are available.

🔵 Keep a spare clear visor if you ride year-round — a badly scratched one is a hazard on a dark winter morning rather than an inconvenience.
