560 l/m²/sec is the number that decides this purchase, and it is worth being clear about what kind of number it is. It is a rate through one square metre of clean material, established in a laboratory. How many square metres are folded into this housing is not published, and neither is what a 1390 draws through them at any given throttle opening, so the figure never becomes litres per minute for this motorcycle. What it can do is place the four materials in order against one another. Against the standard weave, that order is a factor of about nine: 560 against 5,050.
Key Features
- Special dry nonwoven polyester with a 7-micron filtration rating
- Flow quoted at 560 l/m²/sec — around a ninth of the standard weave's 5,050
- A ratio between materials, not a delivery figure for any particular engine
- Oil-free and dry, cleaned with compressed air and put straight back to work
- Fits the unmodified 1390 airbox in place of the original panel
- Two-year warranty, and built to outlast the service schedule
What the figure converts into, and what it does not
Published flow rates are properties of material, expressed per unit area. They are honest numbers and they are not the ones an owner actually experiences, because the area in the box, the shape of the fold and the aperture ahead of it all sit between the specification and the engine — and none of them appears in any catalogue. The one operation the figures do support is comparison, since all four materials here are the same object with a different filling. That comparison is exact: choosing it means accepting the largest reduction in the range.
The decision that is left
On the most powerful machine of the three, deliberately dividing the quoted rate by nine is a decision that has to be justified by the air, not by the bike. It is justified where the air genuinely carries mineral dust and the riding is frequent enough that the load accumulates. And none of this is about output: no element dropped into a series airbox makes a series motorcycle noticeably quicker, and this one is engineered to go the other way in exchange for retention.
Care and cleaning
Keep the PM190T12 dry and its maintenance is straightforward, if more frequent than a weave's. Compressed air at the clean face, worked outward, drives the collected material back the way it came. For anything heavier, lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinsing until the run-off is clear, then drying in circulating air over as long as it takes. Heat is the real enemy — no hot-air gun, no radiator, no flame — and the mat goes back into the box dry and untreated. Sprint Filter's cleaning sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
For the KTM 1390 Super Duke R, 2023 to 2026, seated in the standard airbox. Three motorcycles share this element code: the 1390, the 1290 Super Duke R and the 1290 Super Duke RR, each with its own year range in the Fitment tab. Because two capacities share the Super Duke R name, order by element code and model year.
