DescriptionThe whole story▼
CK27238 is the right-hand outer cover, sitting over the CK27232 side panel. Same construction as its opposite number, same job, and the one most likely to be replaced first.
Key Features
- Outer carbon cover for the right flank of the ZX-6R race bodywork
- Fits over the CK27232 side panel
- Prepreg laminate, autoclave cured, exposed weave
- Individually replaceable after contact
- Ordered separately from the panel it covers
The Arithmetic of a Season
It is worth doing this sum before the season rather than after the first incident. A cover costs a little over half what the panel beneath it does. A rider who goes down twice in a year — not unusual on a middleweight, and not a sign of anything wrong — replaces two covers instead of two flanks, and the difference is roughly the cost of a set of tyres. That is the entire argument for the two-layer construction, and it only works if the spares actually held are covers.
Look Underneath After a Slide
A cover that has been down looks dramatic, and that draws the eye away from the question that matters: what happened to the panel beneath it. Take both off and inspect the inner moulding around its fasteners before deciding what to replace. Most of the time the cover has done its job and the panel is untouched, which is the whole point — but the one time it is not, finding out in the workshop is far better than finding out on the brakes.
Painting the Two Layers
If the bike runs a livery, the cover and the panel are painted as one visual surface even though they are two parts. Send them together and mark which cover belongs to which side — once they are painted, the difference between left and right is far less obvious than it is in bare carbon.
Fitment
For the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636, 2024 to 2026, over the CK27232 panel. The left-hand cover is CK27236.
Road Approval
Supplied without approval documentation.
