DescriptionThe whole story▼
Kawasaki revised the Z900RS for 2026, and the exhaust changed with it. This is the system for that model year — a black-coated stainless double conical muffler cut to the retro roadster's own lines, and it does not fit the 2018 to 2025 machines.
Key Features
- Double conical muffler in black-coated high-grade stainless steel
- Shape developed to follow the Z900RS's lines rather than adapted from another model
- Link pipe in high-grade stainless steel
- Two-part stainless steel heat shield
- 1.1 PS more at 8,200 rpm and 0.8 Nm more at 7,900 rpm
- Removable noise insert supplied
- EC and ECE type approved
Stainless, Not Titanium — on Purpose
The Z900RS is a retro motorcycle whose whole appeal is how it looks: round headlight, teardrop tank, 1970s colour schemes. Bare titanium develops a heat-blue tint within a season, which reads as modern and fights the machine's period character.
Black-coated stainless holds its finish, survives being parked outside, and sits with the bike's dark engine cases and exhaust brackets. It is heavier than titanium and that trade is deliberate.
The Double Cone
The muffler tapers twice along its length instead of running as a straight tube. It is a shape that belongs to a particular era of motorcycle exhaust and it is why the silencer looks like it could have come with the bike, which on a machine built entirely around nostalgia matters more than a percentage.
Which Z900RS You Have
Kawasaki has built the Z900RS since 2018 and revised it for 2026. This part is for the 2026 machine only. For the 2018 to 2025 bikes, including the SE, the corresponding part is S-K9SO5-HBAVTBL. The two look similar in a photograph and are not interchangeable — check the first registration date before ordering.
No Weight Figure Published
Akrapovic does not publish a weight for this system, and this page does not invent one. Stainless steel is heavier than titanium by nature, and a black-coated stainless muffler on a retro machine is chosen for its finish and its durability rather than for mass.
What Stays Standard
The header, the catalytic converter and the engine management are untouched, and the original silencer bolts back on. On a Z900RS — a motorcycle people keep and later sell to other enthusiasts — having the standard parts in the box is worth something.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-K9SO13-HISSS covers the Kawasaki Z900RS for model year 2026. Installation is quoted at around 45 minutes.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval, with the certificates supplied and downloadable here. The silencer is a legal replacement part for road use in the European Union.
