DescriptionThe whole story▼
Most exhaust upgrades cost a sport tourer its luggage. This one does not. The Akrapovic Racing Line (Titanium) S-Y9R13-HAPT/1 is a full system for the Yamaha Tracer 9 that keeps the hard cases and the centre stand usable, carries its own catalytic converter for Euro 5, and adds a second heat shield because a Tracer is ridden with a pillion and a top box more often than a naked bike is.
Key Features
- Complete system that stays compatible with the Yamaha accessory range — hard cases and centre stand included
- Double heat shield rather than a single one, which is what makes soft bags and a pillion's boot safe next to the can
- Titanium muffler outer sleeve, stainless steel headers and link pipes, hand-crafted carbon fibre end cap
- Catalytic converter in the package: the reason a full system can be Euro 5 and EC/ECE type approved
- Shorter muffler with a side exit, which shortens the visual tail of a bike built long for touring
- Recorded gains of 2.0 PS and 1.3 Nm; peak output 118.1 PS against a standard 116.2 PS
- An hour on the ramp, and the ECU is left alone
A Full System That Stays Practical
The GT and GT+ leave the dealer with panniers on, and the usual objection to a complete exhaust on such a bike is losing them. Akrapovic routed this one so the standard luggage mounting stays clear. The second heat shield exists for the same reason: with a top box and a pillion aboard, there is fabric and a boot much closer to the can than there ever is on a sportbike.
Dyno figures: 118.1 PS against a standard 116.2 PS, and 92.3 Nm against 92.1 Nm, with the recorded gains of 2.0 PS and 1.3 Nm landing at 10,000 and 9,700 rpm respectively. Modest on paper — a touring triple was never going to give up double figures to an exhaust — but the acoustic change is not modest at all.
Before You Order
Three things. This part covers model years 2021 through 2024 only; a 2025 Tracer needs a different system. A removable noise insert is in the box for circuits that impose a limit. And allow an hour on the ramp, because the headers come off with the rest.
Tracer 9, GT and GT+
Yamaha sells three versions of this motorcycle. The base Tracer 9 has conventional suspension; the GT adds semi-active KYB damping, heated grips and standard panniers; the GT+ adds radar-linked adaptive cruise control and a larger display. None of that touches the engine, the frame or the exhaust path, so this system fits all three.
The practical difference is at fitting time. A GT or GT+ arrives with its pannier rails in place, and the right-hand rail has to come off before the silencer can be reached. That is part of why the installation is quoted at 60 minutes rather than the half-hour a bare Tracer 9 needs.
Road Approval
Type approved to EC and ECE, Euro 5. The certificate travels with the exhaust and can also be pulled from this page. Nothing leaves the emissions path — the converter simply moves into the Akrapovic system — so the registration documents stay untouched.
