DescriptionThe whole story▼
This is not a road exhaust wearing racing colours. The Evolution Line Kit S-Y10E3-APT was built for Yamaha R1 racers and teams, it is designed for machines running the Yamaha Racing Kit, and it cannot be fitted with the standard R1 fairings. What it delivers is 5.8 kg off a 10 kg system and 7 Nm more torque at 7,200 rpm.
Key Features
- 4.2 kg against the standard 10.0 kg: 5.8 kg gone, a 58 per cent reduction
- 7.5 PS (5.5 kW) more power and 7.0 Nm more torque, both at 7,200 rpm — a genuine mid-range transformation rather than a peak-figure exercise
- Lightweight titanium throughout, finished with a carbon fibre heat shield shaped to the lines of the bike
- Developed for R1s fitted with the Yamaha Racing Kit, which is where the freedom to run racing components comes from
- 107.7 dB at 5,500 rpm against the standard 97.1 dB — a race exhaust, and the number says so
- Peak power 183.0 PS against the standard 179.7 PS
- Dedicated Dynojet mapping required for full performance and durability
Read the Restrictions First
Three of them, and all three come from Akrapovic. The kit cannot be mounted with the standard R1 fairings. It is developed for use with the Yamaha Racing Kit, whose bespoke parts — the radiator among them — are what make the routing possible. And special mapping developed by Dynojet has to be used for correct performance, throttle response and durability.
In other words this is a part for a bike being built as a race machine, not an upgrade for a road R1. Bought for the wrong bike it will not fit under the bodywork.
What the Numbers Mean
The gains of 7.5 PS and 7.0 Nm both land at 7,200 rpm, which on a crossplane R1 is corner-exit territory rather than the top of the rev range. Peak power moves only 3.3 PS, from 179.7 to 183.0 — the transformation is in the shape of the curve, not its highest point.
The 5.8 kg is the other half. Removing more than half the exhaust mass from a machine already built to be light changes how it behaves under braking and on turn-in.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-Y10E3-APT covers the Yamaha YZF-R1 from model year 2015 through 2019, on machines equipped with the Yamaha Racing Kit. Installation is quoted at around 90 minutes.
Road Approval
None. This product does not meet emission compliance requirements for street or highway use. At 107.7 dB it would not pass a road noise check either. It is a circuit part and nothing else.
