DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Z400 is a light twin-cylinder naked bike that many riders keep for years, first as the bike they learned on and later as a second machine for circuit days and short trips. Once track days become a habit, a fuel can becomes part of the household, and where it lives between outings deserves a moment's thought. Accossato offers the FC126 for the Z400 of 2019 to 2025: an aluminium cap with quick release for the tank, its pawl pin in the colour you pick from six.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Kawasaki Z400, 2019 to 2025
- Entirely CNC-machined aluminium
- Robust and durable, according to Accossato
- Quick-closing pawl
- Pin colours: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Pawl sold separately
- No German ABE on record; for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Machined on CNC equipment entirely from aluminium, the FC126 is, in Accossato's words, robust and durable, and its shape is newly drawn. A quick-closing pawl takes care of opening and closing, so the Z400's tank stands open only as long as the pour takes. The pawl's pin is yours to choose from six colours when ordering. Should it ever get damaged, the pawl can be replaced on its own and the cap carries on. Accossato, based in Villastellone near Turin, lists this cap for a long line of Kawasaki models.
Where the Can Lives Between Track Days
A fuel can does not belong in the house, in a cellar next to the boiler or in any room where something might spark. A better place is a detached garage or a shed with some ventilation, where the can stands upright on the floor, out of direct sun and away from heaters, power tools, fridges and freezers. Many countries limit how much fuel may be kept at home and in which containers, so check the rules where you live and use cans approved for petrol. Close them tightly and label them with the date they were filled, because fuel does not keep for ever and the oldest can should be used first. Keep children and pets away from the storage spot. Before a track day, look the can over for cracks and a sound cap, and take only what the day needs. At the circuit the routine for the Z400 stays the same: engine off, can on the ground, pour, then close the FC126.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the FC126 for the Z 400 from 2019 to 2025 in a single entry. We carry the same cap for the Ninja 400, the Z400's fully faired twin. Before you order, hold your bike's model year up against the application list.
Road Approval
The FC126 is sold for the track, since no German ABE and no parts certificate are documented. The Z400's factory cap usually locks, and for road riding it stays on the tank.
