DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Scrambler Classic has been part of the range since Ducati revived the Scrambler name in 2015, and with its spoked wheels and retro details it looks at home in an old town. The old town is not always kind to it. Many historic centres are paved with smooth stone slabs, polished by generations of footsteps, and after a shower or on a humid morning they offer very little grip at walking pace. Accossato's PF044 front axle sliders are listed for the Scrambler Classic from 2015 to 2018.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Scrambler Classic, 2015 to 2018
- Accossato PF044, two protectors
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Kit with spacers, screws and the other mounting parts, according to Accossato
- Meant to meet the ground first if the front slides
- Rear sliders PP018 and crash pads TP090 listed for the Classic
- No German ABE available; supplied for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, based today in Villastellone near Turin, makes the PF044 from aluminium and plastic and supplies it in black. There are two sliders, one for each side of the front wheel, and the maker includes spacers, screws and all the other parts needed to mount them. On the Scrambler Classic, their role in a slide or a slow fall is to be the first contact with the ground, ahead of the fork and the axle area, so that those parts take less damage. The sliders are meant to be sacrificed and are replaced once they have been badly marked.
Smooth Stone in the Historic Centre
Old paving comes in many forms, and the most treacherous is often the one that looks the smartest: polished slabs of marble, limestone or granite, laid across piazzas and along the main streets of historic towns. Add a light shower, a humid morning or water spilled from a café terrace, and the surface can become as slippery as a painted line. On a Scrambler Classic, ride across it slowly and upright, cover the rear brake rather than the front, and avoid braking at all while the bars are turned. Stop where the stone is rough or where the slabs give way to tarmac. When you park, the stand foot needs a firm joint or a flat slab, not a sloping gutter stone. Many historic centres restrict traffic, so check the local rules before riding in at all. If the front does slip away at walking pace, let the bike go rather than trying to catch it with your leg, and look at the sliders and the levers afterwards.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application list gives the PF044 for the Scrambler Classic from 2015 to 2018, and our listing follows those years. For the same bike, Accossato also offers the PP018 rear axle sliders and the TP090 crash pads, if you want to protect more than the front. The PF044 is catalogued in our shop for the Scrambler Icon and the Scrambler Sixty2 as well. Please compare your Scrambler Classic with the list before ordering, or ask us.
Road Approval
No ABE and no test documents are in our records for the PF044, so we offer it for racing use.
