DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Panigale 1299 took over from the 1199 for 2015 with the largest version of Ducati's Superquadro twin, and many of them are taken to circuits. Anyone who has done a few track days on one knows that the laps are only part of the day. Between sessions the bike goes up on paddock stands, the tyre warmers go on and come off, and it is often in those minutes of lifting and lowering, not on the track, that a superbike ends up on its side. Accossato's PF050 gives the Panigale 1299 of 2015 to 2017 two black front axle sliders.
Key Features
- Accossato PF050 front axle sliders for the Ducati Panigale 1299, 2015 to 2017
- Left and right protector in one pack
- Made of aluminium and plastic, black
- Accossato supplies spacers, screws and all other fitting parts
- Sacrificial parts, to be renewed after a heavy impact
- Same pair listed for the 1299 S, the Panigale V4 and the V4 S
- No German ABE documented; supplied for track use
Construction and Material Quality
Two protectors make up the PF050, and Accossato combines aluminium with plastic in each of them before finishing both in black. Everything needed to mount them comes along, according to the manufacturer, including spacers and screws. What they can do on a Panigale 1299 is limited but useful: when the bike falls or slides, they are designed to reach the ground before the fork and the front axle area and to take the scraping that would otherwise mark more expensive parts. They can reduce damage; they cannot rule it out. Treat them as wear parts and renew one as soon as it shows a heavy impact.
Paddock Stands and Tyre Warmers
On a track day the Panigale 1299 spends more time standing than moving, and most of that time it stands on paddock stands. The rear stand comes first. A single-sided swingarm needs a stand made for that design, and its pin must be fully engaged before you lift, in one smooth movement, on firm and level ground rather than on the sloping edge of the paddock. The front stand goes on second and comes off first. Warmer cables are a trip hazard for you and for anyone walking past, so route them away from the stand wheels and switch the warmers off before unplugging. When the bike comes down, fold out the side stand beforehand and keep a hand on the bars, or ask a friend to steady the other side. If the 1299 slips off a stand despite all this, the sliders are intended to be the first thing that touches the ground. Check them, and the fork, before the next session.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PF050 for the Panigale 1299 from 2015 to 2017, and we have linked it to those years. No other Accossato protection part is listed for this bike. Interestingly, the same pair is catalogued in our shop not only for the Panigale 1299 S but also for the four-cylinder Panigale V4 and V4 S that followed. Before you order, compare your Panigale 1299 with the application list, or ask us. Once the sliders are fitted, tighten everything to the values in the workshop manual and make sure nothing rubs when the front wheel turns.
Road Approval
We hold neither an ABE nor a test mark for the PF050, and for that reason we list it for use on the track and in competition.
