DescriptionThe whole story▼

The SuperSport 950 stops with two front discs, one on each side of the wheel, and they are meant to share the work evenly. That balance is worth keeping when the time comes to replace them. The DKS053 is a floating front disc that Accossato lists for the Ducati SuperSport 950 from 2021 to 2024: a 320 mm ring, 5.5 mm thick, on a black carrier with five 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm bolt circle. The supplier describes it as interchangeable with the original equipment disc.

Key Features

  • Floating front disc for the Ducati SuperSport 950, listed 2021–2024
  • 320 mm outside, 72 mm bore, 5.5 mm ring thickness
  • Five 8.5 mm fixing holes on a 90 mm circle
  • Black carrier, ring attached by rivets
  • Interchangeable with the original disc, according to Accossato
  • Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
  • Sold singly; the bike uses two
  • No German ABE documented; track and competition use

Construction and Material Quality

A black carrier and a friction ring, joined by rivets, make up the DKS053. The carrier bolts to the wheel through five 8.5 mm holes on a 90 mm circle; the ring, 320 mm across and 5.5 mm thick, can float slightly on the rivets so it expands without distortion and centres itself between the pads. Accossato cites Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 as the source of its disc know-how and says the clearances in this joint were worked out carefully. It also claims that the low weight of its discs improves steering.

Both Sides at Once

On a twin-disc front wheel the two discs work as a team. Each caliper squeezes its own disc, and the fork feels the sum of both. If one disc is new and the other worn, the two sides grip differently: the new side takes more of the load and heats faster, and the pads on the two sides wear at different rates. That is not dangerous in itself, but the brake loses some of its evenness and the lever can feel less precise.

Workshops therefore generally renew both front discs together, even when only one shows damage, and fit new pads to both calipers at the same time. Both discs should also be of the same type. On the SuperSport 950, Accossato lists this 5.5 mm disc and the thinner DK053, and mixing them would put rings of different thickness on the two sides. Measure both original discs before ordering, decide on one type, and order two of it.

Fitment and Compatibility

On Accossato's list, the DKS053 covers the SuperSport 950 from 2021 to 2024, with the DK053 as the alternative for the same period. Its published bolt circle makes the comparison with your wheel straightforward: five holes, 8.5 mm each, on a 90 mm circle. The price is per disc. Accossato also lists the EDF099 brake lever for the SuperSport 950. Check the wheel bearings while the wheel is out, and tighten the disc bolts crosswise to Ducati's figure.

Road Approval

The DKS053 has no documented German ABE and no type approval. It is intended for use on the track and in competition.

Scope of Delivery
