DescriptionThe whole story▼

With the 1050 Tiger, Triumph pointed its adventure bike firmly at the road: an upright seat, a three-cylinder engine and wheels made for tarmac. On longer trips many owners add a tank bag, and a tank bag sits right where the end of the handlebar swings at full lock. This Accossato brake lever, the EDF014, is machined from aluminium and listed for the Tiger 1050 of 2007 and 2008, the forerunner of the Tiger Sport, and again for the Tiger Sport 1050 from 2017 to 2020. Its reach is adjustable, and the blade comes in three lengths, which is where the tank bag comes into the story.

Key Features

  • Brake lever for the Tiger 1050 and Tiger Sport 1050 in the listed years
  • Fits the original master cylinder
  • Adjustable reach to the grip
  • Three blade lengths, standard about 138 mm
  • CNC-machined aluminium, anodised
  • Black hub, blade in one of seven colours
  • Rigid blade, no hinge
  • No German ABE documented; sold for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato machines the EDF014 from solid aluminium and anodises it in two tones. The black hub is the same on all three versions; what changes between short, standard and long is the length of the blade, which is anodised in your colour. Because the blade is rigid and has no folding joint, its tip follows exactly the same path every time you pull, which makes clearances easy to check once and trust afterwards. Anodising gives hub and blade a hard surface that takes the light, repeated contact of gloves without wearing through.

Tank Bags and Full Lock

When the bars are turned to full lock, the end of the handlebar swings towards the tank, and the brake lever goes with it. Add a tank bag, a phone mount or a longer blade, and the space around the lever at full lock is worth checking again. With the engine off, turn the handlebar slowly to each side and watch the lever: its tip should clear the bag, the tank and anything mounted on the bars, and your fingers should still fit between blade and grip at full pull without brushing the bag. The long blade reaches furthest, so it needs the most attention, while the short one leaves the most room. If the lever does touch, a slimmer bag or a different mounting position usually solves it, and it is far better to find out in the garage than halfway through a slow U-turn on the Tiger Sport 1050, when a blocked lever is the last thing you want.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato's list shows the EDF014 for the Tiger 1050 of 2007 and 2008 and again for bikes from 2017 to 2020, which it names Tiger 1050 and Tiger 1050 Sport. The model years in between are not covered by this listing. For the clutch, Accossato offers the EST333P for the 2017 to 2020 bikes. Long blades come in gold, green, blue and orange, short ones also in silver.

Road Approval

We know of no German ABE for this lever, and none is documented; it is therefore sold for track use.
