Rotational mass is one of the most impactful — and most overlooked — performance variables on a modern superbike. The TGP MotoRacing Hyperdiscs aluminium clutch plates are engineered to replace the standard steel intermediate plates in the BMW S1000RR K67 clutch pack, cutting rotating mass by up to 700 g and delivering a measurably sharper, more responsive drivetrain on both road and track.
Key Features
- Coated aluminium intermediate plates weigh approximately one third of the equivalent steel discs, reducing clutch pack rotating mass by up to 700 g
- Faster engine rev response and more direct throttle pickup thanks to dramatically reduced drivetrain inertia
- Improved corner entry: lower gyroscopic forces allow the S1000RR K67 to change direction with greater ease and accuracy
- Reduced rear wheel hop under hard downshifts — a direct result of lower rotational resistance in the clutch pack
- Enhanced heat dissipation through the aluminium material for consistent clutch feel under sustained high-load riding
- Available in two precisely specified variants to suit OE, STM, and Suter anti-hopping clutch configurations
Engineering the S1000RR K67 Clutch Pack
The BMW S1000RR K67 is a masterclass in electronics and chassis dynamics, but even its sophisticated traction control and engine-brake management systems can only work with the mechanical components they are given. Replacing the factory steel clutch plates with the TGP MotoRacing Hyperdiscs addresses a fundamental physical limit: spinning mass. The lighter the clutch pack, the faster the engine responds to throttle inputs, the lower the inertia that must be overcome during hard braking, and the more faithfully the K67's onboard electronics can translate rider intent into wheel behaviour.
The coated aluminium construction is not a compromise in durability. Each disc is produced to precise dimensional tolerances so that clutch pack stack height matches the OE specification for your chosen clutch system — critical for clean engagement, positive disengagement, and long service life. TGP MotoRacing recommend pairing the Hyperdiscs with new or near-new friction plates to build a clutch pack with a consistent biting point and maximum stability under race conditions.
Performance Benefits at the Limit
The tangible gains from lighter rotating mass become especially apparent when the S1000RR K67 is being ridden hard. Faster acceleration out of corners results from the reduced inertia the drivetrain must overcome on corner exit. Improved turn-in characteristics follow from reduced gyroscopic forces. Less rear-wheel chatter under aggressive downshifting makes the chassis more settled entering corners. And because aluminium dissipates heat more efficiently than steel, the clutch feel remains consistent even after repeated hard laps — a meaningful advantage during track days or endurance stints.
When combined with the K67's advanced cornering ABS, traction control, and engine-brake systems, the Hyperdiscs allow those electronics to work with a drivetrain that reacts more quickly and more predictably. The result is cleaner, more confident riding at the limit.
Variant Selection — Important Note
Two variants are available for the BMW S1000RR K67, each engineered to the precise stack height required by a specific clutch system. Select the correct variant for your installed clutch — using the wrong pack thickness will compromise clutch function and disengagement quality.
Variant 1 — OE Standard Clutch (AHK)
Scope of delivery: 9 aluminium intermediate plates. Configuration: 8 x 2.3 mm + 1 x 2.3 mm. Total pack thickness: 48.7 mm. Clutch pack: 20.7 mm.
Variant 2 — STM or Suter Anti-Hopping Clutch
Configuration: 8 x 2.3 mm + 1 x 3.0 mm. Total clutch pack thickness: 21.4 mm. Compatible with STM and Suter anti-hopping clutch systems.
Fitment and Compatibility
- BMW S1000RR K67 — model years 2019 to 2026
- Outer diameter: Ø 133 mm
- Variant 1 suits the OE standard anti-hopping clutch (AHK)
- Variant 2 suits STM or Suter aftermarket anti-hopping clutches
