The BMW M1000RR K66 represents the absolute peak of Munich's Superbike engineering — yet even this exceptional machine carries unnecessary rotating mass in its clutch pack. TGP MotoRacing's Hyperdisc aluminium clutch plates replace the factory steel friction discs with ultra-light coated aluminium counterparts, unlocking sharper throttle response, reduced drivetrain inertia and a measurably more agile feel every time you exit a corner at the limit.
Key Features
- Save up to 700 g of rotating clutch mass compared to standard steel plates — no engine modifications required
- Hyperdisc aluminium plates weigh approximately one third of the OE steel equivalents, cutting rotational inertia dramatically
- Optimised heat dissipation maintains a consistent clutch feel under sustained track loads
- Reduced gyroscopic forces improve turn-in precision and chassis neutrality through fast direction changes
- Engineered to pair directly with the standard BMW OE friction plates — a straightforward, bolt-in upgrade
- Designed and manufactured by TGP MotoRacing specifically for the K66 clutch assembly
Track Performance Benefits
Less rotating mass in the clutch pack translates directly into faster engine rev build-up, crisper throttle pick-up and a reduced moment of inertia through the entire drivetrain. On the M1000RR these gains are immediately perceptible: the engine spins up more freely, gearchanges feel lighter and the power delivery becomes noticeably more linear.
Reduced rotating mass delivers:
- Faster engine rev response and throttle acceptance
- Reduced drivetrain inertia throughout the rev range
- Quicker acceleration out of corners
- Improved turn-in precision through lower gyroscopic forces
- Reduced rear-wheel hop under hard downshifts
- Consistent clutch feel even under maximum track-day or race loads thanks to optimised heat dissipation
Compatibility with the M1000RR's Electronics
Paired with the M1000RR's aggressive engine-braking map and highly resolved traction electronics, a lighter clutch pack brings measurably calmer, more predictable chassis behaviour. Corner entry stability improves, and the electronics have less rotational mass to manage — letting the bike's systems work with physics rather than against them.
Important Fitment Note
All dimensions stated are based on use with the original BMW OE friction plates (approximately 2.9 mm each). If aftermarket friction plates of a different thickness or an aftermarket clutch basket are used, the overall stack height will change and must be checked and adjusted accordingly. For best results, TGP MotoRacing recommends fitting new or near-new OE friction plates alongside the Hyperdisc aluminium plates to achieve a stable clutch bite point, clean disengagement and consistent performance at the limit.
