The Talos X82 SBK represents the pinnacle of Superbike braking technology — a thoroughbred racing caliper machined from a single aluminium billet, finished in deep DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) and engineered to perform where OEM hardware simply cannot follow. Born from the heritage of the acclaimed X80 series and elevated with active cooling architecture, the X82 exists for one purpose: race-winning deceleration on purpose-built Superbike machinery.
Key Features
- DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) finish — harder than hard anodising, ultra-low friction coefficient and a deep, premium black aesthetic that defines high-end racing hardware
- Precision-machined cooling fins and ventilation pockets accelerate heat dissipation during sustained braking, keeping piston and pad temperatures controlled across full race stints
- SBK monoblock body machined from high-rigidity aluminium billet — zero flex at the limit, razor-sharp lever feel and supremely direct feedback under maximum braking load
- P4 racing piston layout: 2x 34 mm + 2x 38 mm titanium pistons with TIN coating for maximum heat resistance and minimal internal friction
- Titanium pad carriers guide the brake pads while simultaneously protecting the aluminium body from wear
- 108 mm SBK racing mounting standard — designed exclusively for Superbike racing chassis and SBK conversions, not OEM fitment
From X80 to X82 — What the Cooling Architecture Changes
The step from the X80 to the X82 is defined by the addition of machined cooling fins and air-channelling ventilation pockets. On track, where brake temperatures climb relentlessly through long sessions, this active thermal management translates into measurable advantages: faster heat dissipation under sustained load, a consistently higher friction coefficient even late in a session, a more stable lever feel throughout a stint, significantly reduced fading as piston and pad temperatures remain better controlled, longer pad service life due to lower peak thermal stress, and improved fluid stability at high ambient temperatures. These are not marginal gains — they are the difference between a consistent lap time and a degrading one.
Monoblock SBK Construction
The X82 body is machined entirely from a single block of high-rigidity aluminium. There are no joints, no flex points, no compromises. At the absolute limit of braking — deep into a corner entry on a circuit where a tenth of a second matters — the monoblock structure returns an immediate, precise lever feel that a two-piece caliper simply cannot replicate. The result is zero flex even under extreme load, a sharp and consistent bite point, maximum control under hard late braking, the ability to brake later with confidence, and direct, unfiltered feedback from disc to hand.
P4 34/38 Titanium Pistons
The racing piston configuration pairs two 34 mm and two 38 mm titanium pistons, each finished with a TIN (Titanium Nitride) coating. This layout delivers exceptional initial bite, outstanding overall braking power, precise modulation at the apex, and fade-free performance under sustained heat. TIN-coated titanium pistons combine the thermal resilience of titanium with a surface treatment that minimises friction and sealing wear, ensuring consistent performance across the full operating temperature range.
DLC Finish — Design, Protection and Racing Identity
This variant carries the DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) surface treatment, which goes beyond the already-impressive Hard Anodized finish available on the HD variant. DLC is harder, offers an even lower friction coefficient at the surface, delivers greater thermal stability under extreme operating conditions, and produces a deep, uniform black that has become the hallmark of premium racing components. For riders who demand that every component on their machine reflects the level of engineering underneath it, the DLC finish is the definitive choice.
108 mm Racing Mount — Built for Superbikes, Not for OEM
The 108 mm SBK mounting standard is a deliberate engineering decision. It is not compatible with OEM brackets, not suited to standard production brake discs, and carries no road homologation. This is a pure racing caliper for racing chassis and SBK-specification builds. It is a performance component, not a plug-and-play replacement for a series motorcycle.
Not Suitable For
- Standard production motorcycles
- OEM brake discs
- Plug-and-play conversions
- Road use
