Whether you are chasing lap times at the weekend or simply want a brakes upgrade that genuinely improves every ride, the Talos XR.16 radial master cylinder delivers professional-grade feel and reliability without demanding a full race setup to appreciate it. CNC-machined from solid billet aluminium, weighing just 260 g and fitted throughout with titanium hardware, it raises the standard of front brake control on a remarkably wide range of sport and performance motorcycles.
Key Features
- CNC billet-aluminium body machined from solid stock — rigid, precise and weighing only 260 g total
- Full titanium hardware package: titanium pivot bolt, titanium clamp bolts and titanium bleeder for maximum corrosion resistance and minimum rotating mass
- 16 mm piston diameter matched to 2-piston and 4-piston caliper combinations (30/30, 30/34, 32/36) for progressive, controllable modulation
- Three-position click adjuster varies lever ratio between 18 mm, 19 mm and 20 mm — dial in feel for road, track or tyre compound without any tools
- Folding lever absorbs crash energy to protect both rider and master cylinder body in a get-off or parking tip-over
- Hard-anodised finish resists scratches, corrosion and UV fade while giving the XR its distinctive premium appearance
- Hydraulic brake-light switch port included for straightforward integration on any chassis
CNC Billet-Aluminium Construction
The XR series is carved from a single aluminium billet rather than cast, which eliminates internal porosity and delivers a housing that transmits pedal forces with no flex or energy loss. The result is a consistent pressure point you can rely on corner after corner — on a Sunday morning road ride or a full race weekend alike. That rigidity, combined with the 260 g total weight, makes the XR.16 one of the lightest and stiffest master cylinders in its class.
Full Titanium Hardware
Most master cylinders at this price use stainless steel fasteners as standard. Talos specifies titanium for every critical fixing: pivot bolt, clamp bolts and the bleeder valve. Titanium offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than steel, is virtually immune to corrosion from brake fluid or weather, and eliminates the micro-play that builds up in lesser pivots over time. The benefit to the rider is a mechanism that stays tight, precise and rattle-free through years of real-world use.
16 mm Piston and Adjustable 18–20 mm Lever Ratio
The 16 mm piston diameter is the sweet spot for sport and lightweight motorcycles running dual or quad-piston calipers in the 30/30 to 32/36 bore range. It produces a pressure curve that is easy to modulate progressively — exactly what you need when trail-braking into a tight corner or scrubbing speed in heavy traffic. The click adjuster changes the effective lever ratio across three positions:
- 18 mm: longer lever travel, softer initial bite, ideal for riders who prefer gradual, linear build-up
- 19 mm: medium lever travel and feel — the natural starting point for most road and track applications
- 20 mm: shorter, more direct travel for an aggressive, race-oriented response
Switching between positions takes seconds and costs nothing, making it practical to change the feel to suit different circuits, tyre temperatures or riding partners sharing the same bike.
Folding Lever
The lever folds cleanly on impact rather than snapping or bending the master cylinder body. On track this is simply sensible risk management; on the road it can be the difference between riding home and waiting for a recovery truck. It resets just as easily after a tip-over in a car park.
Hard-Anodised Finish
A hard-anodised surface treatment penetrates the aluminium rather than sitting on top of it, creating a layer that resists abrasion, brake fluid and road grime far better than paint or standard anodising. The finish maintains its appearance through sustained use and gives the XR its clean, purposeful look on any motorcycle.
