The architecture centres on STM's patented ball-ramp system — a mechanism that automatically modulates clutch clamping force during deceleration, progressively reducing back-torque rather than fighting it. Where a standard clutch transmits every lock-up impulse straight into the rear wheel, the FSU-S080 absorbs and releases that energy in a controlled ramp, keeping the tyre in contact with the road and the rider in control of the machine.

For road riders who push into corners with commitment, the slipper function eliminates the stomach-dropping moment when an aggressive downshift upsets the chassis mid-corner.
