For the PM200S in a 200 Duke the answer is no, and the reason is structural rather than merely reassuring. Nothing about the airbox changes. The lid still closes on the same rim, the intake still draws from the same place, the sensors still sit where KTM put them. Only the panel inside is different, and it differs in material rather than in dimension.

Key Features

Same outline, same sealing face and same fixings as the element the factory supplies

No fuelling work, no ECU flash, no additional hardware of any kind

Dry polyester construction, so nothing can migrate downstream onto an intake sensor

Filtering area roughly doubled against other performance elements for the same housing

Washable, reusable and expected to see the motorcycle out

Rated at 80 microns; the road and track medium of the range

Why the fuelling is left alone

An engine management system reads what it is given: air mass, pressure, temperature and the oxygen left over in the exhaust. Change the volume the engine can draw by enough and the map has to follow. A panel inside a sealed box does not do that. It swaps one restriction for a slightly lower and much more stable one, inside a chamber whose geometry sets the terms. This is a small single with a modest appetite, and the throttle plate ahead of it stays the real limit on how much air it can take at anything short of full load. There is nothing to declare here, which is exactly why there is no calibration work to do.

The oil question, which is the same question

The other reason people brace for trouble after a filter change is oil. Cotton-gauze panels are treated with a tacky dressing, and when that dressing is over-applied it can find its way onto a hot-film sensor, where it reads as a fault nobody can see. The dry weave removes the possibility instead of managing it: the polyester is fitted dry, cleaned dry and refitted dry, and no bottle is involved at any stage. Ownership of the part comes down to an air line and five minutes.

Care and cleaning

Direct compressed air at the clean side and let it drive the dust outwards through the fabric. If the panel is properly dirty, a bowl of hand-warm water and a little dish soap will lift what the air left behind; rinse it out and leave it to dry in the air, never against a heater and never over a flame. The illustrated maintenance sheet sits among the files in the Downloads tab. Put the element back only when it is dry through, and put nothing on it.

Fitment & Compatibility

Catalogued for the KTM 200 Duke from 2020 to 2026. The element is drawn around the series airbox rather than adapted to it. Fourteen machines in total share this code across KTM and Husqvarna, and the Fitment tab shows each with its production window.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/PM200S_746121f4-9ae3-433a-b75b-9fa085961f4b.png?v=1787059062
