Ceramic Over Titanium

Black Series is a ceramic treatment bonded to the titanium underneath, which is why the weight does not move and only one letter of the article number changes. It is not high-temperature paint, and it does not turn brown at the hot end after a season the way lacquer eventually does.

What it will not tolerate is abrasion. Cutting polish and the harsher wheel cleaners exist to remove material, and a bonded coating is the wrong surface for that. Warm water and a soft cloth are the whole maintenance routine.

What Black Does on a GS

BMW paints most of an R 1250 GS dark and leaves the boxer cases pale grey. A bare titanium silencer picks up the engine and pulls the eye back and down; the black one lets the motorcycle keep its own line, and on a bike with panniers fitted it stops the exhaust competing with the luggage.

The titanium version is GBM0607TOM at 832 euro. Nothing else differs between the two.

The Numbers Are Spark's Own

1,9 kg for the complete slip-on and a 62 per cent saving; plus 2,5 hp at 4.500 rpm with the standard manifold retained. Both figures come from Spark and both apply to this build exactly as they do to the titanium one, because underneath it is the same component.

Spark's model data elsewhere lists a standard weight that does not reconcile with the percentage, so we quote the percentage and the fitted weight and leave the stock figure alone.

Fitting It

Spark publishes both a written installation instruction and a fitting video for this code, which is not the case for every silencer in the range. The manifold stays as BMW built it.

Which GS It Fits

Spark lists this number for two generations of the big boxer: the R 1200 GS and GS Adventure from 2013 to 2018, and the R 1250 GS and GS Adventure from 2018 to 2021. BMW kept the silencer mounting through the change to the ShiftCam engine, so one part covers both.

Euro 4 and Euro 5 are both covered by the approval. If the emission class on your registration document is unclear, send it over and we will confirm it before the part leaves.

The Fighter Evo Shape

Fighter Evo is the squared one in Spark's range — a blunt case with flat flanks rather than a tapered tube, finished with a carbon cap. On a GS, which is all hard surfaces and straight lines from the tank back, it fits the motorcycle's own geometry.
