Why the PAIR System Causes Problems with Aftermarket Exhausts
The Secondary Air Injection system — known on Yamaha as PAIR — channels fresh air from the airbox into the exhaust tract to help combust unburned fuel. On a standard exhaust it reduces tailpipe emissions, but once an aftermarket system is installed the altered exhaust gas dynamics interact with that secondary airflow to produce the characteristic popping, backfiring and hesitation that frustrate riders on track. The JetPrime JP ES 033 removes the system entirely, closing off the airbox port and allowing the engine management to work cleanly with the altered exhaust, delivering a crisper throttle response and more predictable fuelling throughout the rev range.
