Why the PAIR System Causes Problems with Aftermarket Exhausts

The Secondary Air Injection System routes fresh air from the airbox into the exhaust stream to help oxidise unburnt fuel — a measure designed to satisfy emissions requirements with the standard exhaust. The moment you fit a freer-flowing aftermarket system, this extra air disrupts the exhaust scavenging pulses and creates a lean condition in the overrun, producing the characteristic popping, banging and erratic fuelling that frustrates riders on track.

Blocking off the PAIR port with a properly machined closure plate removes the source of interference entirely. The JP ES 005 replaces the original cover and rubber cap with a single solid aluminium plate that sits flush against the airbox, restoring the intake side to a clean, sealed state that your ECU and fuel map can work with predictably.
