Performance and Build Quality

SC-Project developed the GP70-R drawing directly on their MotoGP programme. The retro-inspired canister shape houses a straight-through race core, and the Ø70 mm exit diameter is tuned for the deep, aggressive acoustic signature that has become SC-Project's trademark on the world stage. Removing 6.2 kg from the rear of the machine noticeably sharpens handling and reduces unsprung mass, with improved throttle pick-up felt immediately on first ride.

Every weld on the titanium link pipe is completed by hand using the T.I.G. process, and the CNC-machined sleeves ensure a rattle-free, leak-free fitment that holds up across repeated heat cycles on track. The titanium construction offers outstanding resistance to the extreme temperatures generated by the R1's crossplane four-cylinder, making this a genuine long-term investment rather than a short-term upgrade.

Two Versions, One Standard of Finish

The Titanium version (Y11C-DET70T) features a laser-etched SC-Project logo that catches the light cleanly and ages beautifully with heat patination. The Carbon version (Y11C-DET70C) uses a woven carbon fibre sleeve secured with rivets and an SC-Project plaque, replicating the specification seen on SC-Project's factory-supported MotoGP entries. Both versions ship with the same titanium de-cat link pipe and identical performance characteristics — the choice is purely aesthetic.

Fitment and Compatibility

This kit is designed exclusively for the Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M in the RN65 chassis generation, covering model years 2020 through 2026. It is not road-legal and is intended for closed-circuit racing and track use only. The lambda sensor bung is retained for ECU compatibility, and the mounting points are fully compatible with the standard pillion footpeg brackets, so no additional modifications to the subframe are required for installation.
