The SC-Project SC1-R is one of the most visually arresting slip-on silencers the Italian manufacturer has ever produced. Its asymmetric diamond-shaped body, hand-welded T.I.G. seams and hydroformed carbon end-cap carry a design lineage drawn directly from the MotoGP and WorldSBK pit lanes — and on the Kawasaki ZX-10 R/RR it looks every bit as purposeful as it performs.

Design, Finish and Heritage
SC-Project was founded on the principle that form and function are inseparable, and the SC1-R is the fullest expression of that philosophy. The canister body — whether specified in carbon or titanium — is shaped into an angular, faceted profile that breaks decisively from the round silencers fitted to most production machines. The carbon variant showcases the raw weave beneath a clear lacquer that deepens with heat cycles; the titanium version develops its own heat-blued character over time. Both finishes are the product of craftsmanship carried out in SC-Project's Italian facility, where the same hands that build exhausts for factory MotoGP teams assemble every road and track unit.
The hydroformed carbon end-cap is not a cosmetic afterthought. Hydroforming allows the carbon to be shaped into compound curves that a conventional lay-up cannot achieve, resulting in cleaner airflow separation at the exit point and a surface that resists the sustained radiant heat generated under hard track use. CNC-machined titanium collars at the mounting interfaces ensure repeatable, rattle-free fitment every time the silencer is removed for transit or servicing.
Performance and Engineering
The SC1-R ships with a titanium link pipe featuring variable taper geometry — Ø60 mm rising to Ø70 mm — that transitions smoothly from the ZX-10 R's header. Variable conicity is not a marketing phrase here; it actively manages exhaust gas velocity across the rev range to support both the torque gains at 6,750 rpm and the headline power figure at 9,000 rpm. The internal sound-dampening material is rated for sustained high-temperature operation, minimising pressure losses while shaping the exhaust note into the deep, layered tone associated with the SC1-R's racing counterparts. With the dB-killer removed the ZX-10 R produces 113 dB at 6,500 rpm — exactly what a track session demands. For noise-sensitive circuits the dB-killer brings that figure to a still-serious 106 dB.
An ECU remap is recommended to extract the full benefit of the improved flow characteristics. The part is intended for racing and track-day use and does not carry road-use type approval.
