Design, Finish and Heritage

OZ Racing has decades of motorsport pedigree, supplying wheels to World Superbike and MotoGP teams before every Piega R ever reached a privateer's garage. The Piega R rear wheel carries that lineage in its proportions: the five-spoke profile is not a styling exercise but a structural solution, channelling braking and acceleration forces efficiently through the hub while keeping unsprung weight to a minimum. The anodised techno black and techno gold finishes are applied to the raw forged aluminium after machining, producing a surface that is integral to the metal rather than sitting on top of it — so the colour endures through full race weekends rather than fading after the first tyre change.

Performance on Track

Replacing the standard rear wheel with the Piega R reduces unsprung and rotating mass simultaneously. Lower unsprung mass allows the suspension to track the circuit surface more accurately under braking and mid-corner, while reduced rotational inertia means the engine's power translates to acceleration sooner and the wheel follows rider inputs with less lag. On a circuit as demanding as those the Ducati Panigale 959 is built to tackle, these gains are tangible from the very first session.

It is important to note that the Piega R is engineered exclusively for track use. It is not intended or approved for road riding, and OZ specifies that the original Ducati rear sprocket is not compatible — a replacement sprocket carrier is included in the delivery scope.

Supplied with all hardware required for fitment, including high-quality bearings, aluminium angle valves and spacers where needed. The included sprocket carrier accepts a compatible aftermarket rear sprocket; the OEM Ducati sprocket does not fit.
