Öhlins machines its pistons rather than sintering them, which is why the port edges stay sharp.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 06198-77

What It Is

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Öhlins builds the seat into the housing so the sealing face is machined, not pressed. Jets meter fixed bleed flow and are sized in tenths of a millimetre. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size.

Genuine Service Part

Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. The exploded drawing for your unit names the number; if you do not have it, we do. Service parts are ordered per piece unless stated otherwise.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Order under 06198-77. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Piston bands are consumables — they wear against the bore and lose their seal gradually. Valves and needles set the adjustable part of the damping; the piston sets the rest.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 06198-77

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/06198-77_29ac1575-ea23-400c-93bb-4a9a34cd4e0a.png?v=1788877566
