Öhlins uses a piston band rather than metal-to-metal contact, which is what keeps the bore intact.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05563-02

Where It Sits

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size. Replacing a piston is a workshop job because the shim stack has to be rebuilt in the correct order. Valves hold pressure in one direction and open in the other.

Why the Original

Öhlins supports units that are decades old, which is why the spare parts list runs to thousands of numbers. The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. We can supply the whole position from the drawing rather than the single piece if that is easier. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.

Identifying the Right Part

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 05563-02 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Öhlins machines the ports rather than casting them, so the edges stay sharp and the flow predictable. Port area sets how much oil can pass before the shims begin to lift.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05563-02

Category: Valves

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05563-02_06cd73fd-ff19-4370-b42b-01d0cb10d34a.png?v=1788876853
