Springs are the cheapest suspension part and the one that decides the most.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 05983-01

Function

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Öhlins winds, heat-sets and measures each spring individually. Rates are offered in steps so a change can be made in one direction at a time. Free length and inner diameter decide fit; the rate decides behaviour.

Why the Original

The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. For a full rebuild, the seal kit plus the wear parts is usually the sensible order. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 05983-01 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. This position has no published dimension, so the part number is the only reliable identifier. Rates are offered in steps so a change can be made in one direction at a time. Öhlins measures each spring after setting rather than relying on the winding specification.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05983-01

Category: Springs

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05983-01_3813b4e6-88b2-4ebe-aa7e-a64cdd7da2b1.png?v=1788877256
