Outer diameter sets the lever the oil works against, and thickness sets the resistance.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 00188-01

Original Öhlins service part

Function

There is no measurement to check here — the number and the exploded view identify it. Revalving means changing the stack, which is why Öhlins sells shims individually. Suspension technicians keep these in stock by size because a revalve means changing several at once. Face flatness matters as much as thickness — a shim that does not seal against its neighbour leaks damping.

Genuine Service Part

Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Order by part number. The dimensions below are the ones Öhlins publishes for it. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue.

Getting the Number Right

Part number 00188-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Two shims of the same thickness but different diameter give completely different damping. Öhlins grinds shims to a flatness tolerance because the faces have to seal against each other.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 00188-01

Category: Shims

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/00188-01_d01f19d9-ca7d-47ac-90e3-c5d94e2e39aa.png?v=1788868880
