Öhlins specifies seal compounds for temperature stability rather than for the lowest unit cost.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 22152-01

What It Is

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Seals harden with heat and age even when the machine has not been ridden much. Öhlins uses seals with a spring-loaded lip so they follow the shaft as it wears. Replacing seals at service intervals is far cheaper than replacing what a failed seal damages.

Why the Original

A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. Öhlins lists this part under its own number in the service catalogue so a workshop can order exactly what it needs. Service parts are supplied per piece unless the description says otherwise. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand.

How to Be Sure It Fits

Part number 22152-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Nitrile, Viton and PTFE behave differently with temperature, and Öhlins picks per position. The dust seal does the hard work: it keeps the grit that would score the shaft away from the oil seal.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 22152-01

Category: Seals

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/22152-01_77317632-d861-49c5-8818-91e752b609e6.png?v=1788878198
