The dust seal does the hard work: it keeps the grit that would score the shaft away from the oil seal.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 15452-04

Function

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Static seals and dynamic seals are not interchangeable even in the same size. Cross-section is as important as diameter: an O-ring that is too thin will not seal at pressure. An oil seal that has hardened lets the shaft pass oil past it, and the damping fades long before the leak becomes visible.

Why the Original

The part is identical to what Öhlins fits in production — same supplier, same specification. Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute.

How to Be Sure It Fits

The reliable route is the exploded drawing: find the position, read the number, order it — 15452-04 in this case. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Seals are the part of a damper that decides whether it holds its gas charge and its oil, and they are the usual reason a unit ends up on the bench. Öhlins uses seals with a spring-loaded lip so they follow the shaft as it wears.

Fitting and Setup Service

A damper rebuild is workshop work: it needs the unit dismantled, the shim stack rebuilt in the correct order and the gas charge reset. We are an authorised Öhlins service centre and do exactly that in house — send us the unit or ask us to fit the part with your order.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 15452-04

Category: Seals

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/15452-04_c5e0f51a-976c-4775-884d-a97417748319.png?v=1788878871
