Seals are the part of a damper that decides whether it holds its gas charge and its oil, and they are the usual reason a unit ends up on the bench.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 22153-01

Outer Diameter 40 mm

Original Öhlins service part

Inner Diameter 16 mm

Where It Sits

Öhlins gives it as 16 mm, 40 mm; nothing about that is approximate. The bushing inside carries the side load so the seal only has to seal. Assembly grease matters — the wrong compound swells the seal and it fails early. Cross-section is as important as diameter: an O-ring that is too thin will not seal at pressure.

Why the Original

Parts remain available years after a unit leaves the current price list, which is unusual in this trade. Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. Tell us the damper's model designation and year and we will match the number for you. Order by part number — descriptions repeat across sizes, numbers do not.

Getting the Number Right

Order under 22153-01. Where several sizes share a description, only the number separates them. Check inner diameter 16 mm, outer diameter 40 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. A weeping damper almost always starts here. Öhlins builds the head so the dust seal takes the grit before it reaches the oil seal.

Fitting and Setup Service

Öhlins recommends that its units are serviced by an authorised centre. We are one: rebuild, revalve and setup all happen in our own workshop.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 22153-01

Category: Seal Heads

Inner Diameter: 16 mm

Outer Diameter: 40 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/22153-01_232ff59c-684a-4147-aa18-1ad1878f847a.png?v=1788880629
