The seat face has to be flat enough for the first shim to seal against it. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size. A scored piston face means oil bypasses the shims entirely.

Why the Original

The tolerances here are the ones the unit was assembled to, not a pattern equivalent's interpretation of them. Öhlins is one of the few suspension makers that still supplies every position in the exploded view as a single part. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. Ask us before ordering if you are unsure: a wrong part in a pressurised unit is an expensive lesson.

Getting the Number Right

Part number 21863-01 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Öhlins states dimension a 55 mm, dimension b 1.5 mm, dimension c 3.2 mm for this number, and those figures are the deciding ones. Needle geometry sets the shape of the adjustable range, not just its size. A worn band lets oil past the outside of the piston, which feels like damping that has gone soft.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 21863-01

Category: Piston Bands

Dimension A: 55 mm

Dimension B: 1.5 mm

Dimension C: 3.2 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/21863-01_cb5d42cc-f2d7-4652-8954-6fef47ccebf9.png?v=1788877927
