The cylinder is one of the few damper parts that is genuinely wear-limited.

Key Features

Length 28.5 mm

Original Öhlins service part

Diameter 31 mm

Öhlins part number 06778-03

Where It Sits

The published figures are 31 mm, 28.5 mm. Measure the old part against them before ordering. The tube also carries the end cap threads, so thread damage means a new tube. Reservoir tubes carry the gas charge and are built to the same standard as the working cylinder. Diameter and length together identify the tube — both are specific to the damper it came from.

Why the Original

Öhlins keeps service parts available for units long after they leave the current price list. An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. We can check the number against the Öhlins exploded view before you order — just ask. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up.

Identifying the Right Part

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 06778-03 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Check diameter 31 mm, length 28.5 mm against what you have removed; a close size is not the same part. A hard bottoming often leaves a witness ring inside the bore — that tube is finished. Twin-tube dampers use two concentric tubes, and both are listed separately.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 06778-03

Category: Cylinder Tubes

Diameter: 31 mm

Length: 28.5 mm

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/06778-03_dc4b40dc-6295-46b9-bb14-83e011d86a00.png?v=1788878009
