Öhlins uses metric threads throughout, but the length and head form are specific to the position.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 03174-01

Original Öhlins service part

Where It Sits

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Thread size and length identify the fastener; substituting a hardware-store equivalent is not sensible in a pressurised damper. Fasteners in a damper see pressure, heat and vibration at once, which is why the grade matters. Öhlins publishes them in the exploded view so a workshop can order the whole position at once.

Why the Original

Rebuilding to specification only works if the parts are to specification — that starts here. A damper that can be rebuilt is a damper that stays on the bike; that is the whole argument for original service parts. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue. If the unit is already apart, compare the published dimensions with the part in your hand.

Getting the Number Right

Öhlins identifies this position by the number 03174-01 in the exploded view for the unit it belongs to. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Thread size and length identify the fastener; substituting a hardware-store equivalent is not sensible in a pressurised damper. Lock nuts hold their setting against the vibration a suspension unit lives with.

Fitting and Setup Service

If you would rather not open the damper yourself, we can do it — we are an authorised Öhlins service centre and rebuild these units as a matter of routine.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 03174-01

Category: Nuts

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/03174-01_16c850ac-ee74-41be-9f48-bb45654982c2.png?v=1788874689
