Service parts stay available for years after a part number leaves the current price list. Shafts are hardened and surface-treated so the seal has a consistent surface to run against.

Dimensions

Öhlins holds the free length at 466 mm and the inner diameter at 41 mm across this rate range, so moving up or down a rate changes nothing about the installation.

What This Rate Does

A soft rate favours grip and comfort over support: the fork moves early, which keeps the tyre loaded on a poor surface. A softer rate keeps the tyre loaded on a poor surface, which is worth more than outright support on most roads. Rates in this range suit lighter riders and machines that spend their time on real roads rather than smooth circuits. Ride quality on the road is decided by rate first and damping second.

Applications

Where Öhlins lists this size against a particular unit, the listing is a starting point rather than a boundary. Sag figures, not feel, decide whether a rate is right. Öhlins publishes the targets for its own units. Selection is by measurement. If the diameter and free length match your fork, the remaining question is the rate.

Fitting

The fork legs come off, the springs are swapped and the oil level is reset — half a day in most workshops. Work on both legs in one session so the fork stays symmetrical. Fork oil should be replaced at the same time — it is already out of the leg.

Road Approval

Road approval: a spring is a like-for-like replacement of a wear part and carries no separate type approval. Where Öhlins states an approval for a particular motorcycle, it is named under Applications.

Fitting and Setup Service

We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so the installation does not have to be your problem: we fit and set up Öhlins components in our own workshop. Ask us when you order and we will include the work.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 08435-75

Spring Rate: 7.5 N/mm

Free Length: 466 mm

Inner Diameter: 41 mm

Stroke: 262 mm

Construction: Tapered

Packaging Unit: Pair

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/ForkSprings-v2_ad081dfb-d1f5-4816-a295-30e772228913.png?v=1788864110
