Inner tubes carry a low-friction coating; once it is through, the seals wear quickly.

Key Features

Original Öhlins service part

Öhlins part number 04742-53

What It Is

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. Bushings in the fork carry the side load; play there shows up as knocking under braking. Öhlins publishes tube diameters by fork model, and they are not interchangeable across the range. Cartridge tubes sit inside the fork leg and do the actual damping.

Original Öhlins Part

An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins manufactures service parts on the same lines as production parts — there is no second quality. Send us the model and serial number of your unit and we will confirm the position before you order. If you are between two sizes, send us the measurement and we will check it against the catalogue.

Identifying the Right Part

Part number 04742-53 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. Öhlins does not publish a dimension here — go by the number and the exploded view. Bushings in the fork carry the side load; play there shows up as knocking under braking. Fork tubes are the structural part of the front end and carry the braking load into the yokes.

Fitting and Setup Service

We are an authorised Öhlins service centre, so you do not have to source the tools and the nitrogen: send us the damper and we rebuild it with the correct parts and the correct setting.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 04742-53

Category: Fork Bottoms

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/04742-53_f97dabd0-a4ce-47a9-bef8-159819ee3004.png?v=1788875470
