The Öhlins FGRT 219 is a fully engineered road-track upside-down fork that brings superbike championship pedigree directly to your Yamaha YZF-R1 or R1M. Built around the proven Öhlins 30 mm cartridge kit that has earned victories in national Superbike championships, this fork transforms the R1's front-end feel with the kind of precision and consistency that only a dedicated suspension upgrade can deliver.
Key Features
- Race-proven 30 mm Öhlins cartridge kit, already battle-tested in national Superbike championships for dependable, consistent damping under the most demanding conditions.
- Separate compression and rebound adjustment circuits let you dial in exactly the handling balance and braking stability your riding demands — road sprint, track day or full race weekend.
- Type Code FG43 construction engineered specifically for the R1/R1M platform, ensuring correct geometry, axle spacing and brake caliper alignment across all three chassis generations (RN32, RN49, RN65).
- 120 mm of wheel travel with a 10.0 N/mm spring rate tuned to suit the performance weight and power delivery of the YZF-R1 family.
- Supplied as a matched pair (745 mm leg length) for balanced, symmetrical damping from the first corner.
- German ABE type approval (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis) for road-legal use in Germany on both YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M variants.
Design, Finish and Heritage
Öhlins has defined premium suspension for four decades, and the FGRT 219 wears that heritage with the understated confidence of a component that needs no gimmicks. The upside-down architecture — stiffer, lighter and more resistant to flex under hard braking than conventional forks — is finished to Öhlins' characteristic standard: clean machined surfaces, precise anodising and the gold-toned aesthetic that has become the visual shorthand for serious suspension on the grid and on the road.
Every element of the FGRT 219 reflects decisions made at the racetrack first. The 04744-10 spring (04744 series) is selected to work in concert with the 30 mm cartridge, not as an afterthought. The result is a fork that feels progressive under trail-braking and composed mid-corner, communicating surface detail without transmitting harshness — exactly what a chassis as precise as the R1 deserves.
Road and Track Performance
On the road, the FGRT 219 rewards smooth inputs with improved feedback and reduced dive under braking, making rapid direction changes feel more natural and less fatiguing over long distances. On track, the separate compression and rebound circuits mean you can work methodically through a setup programme — softening the entry for a technical hairpin section, stiffening rebound for a fast, bumpy sequence — without compromise. The fork transforms the R1 from a very good factory machine into a genuinely tunable chassis tool.
Please note: installing the FGRT 219 will disable the function of the electronically controlled suspension system present on certain R1M variants. Riders should factor this into their setup planning accordingly.
