A scored bore means lost damping, because the oil bypasses the piston rather than being forced through the shims.

Key Features

Öhlins part number 05065-01

Original Öhlins service part

What It Is

This position is identified by its number rather than by a dimension. The cylinder is one of the few damper parts that is genuinely wear-limited. A tube that has been bottomed hard often shows a ring mark; that is a reason to replace it. Öhlins matches tube and piston as a pair during assembly, which is why the part numbers are specific.

Original Öhlins Part

An original part keeps the unit within its published specification; a near-equivalent quietly moves it. Öhlins publishes dimensions for its service parts so a workshop can verify before it fits. Öhlins parts are unit-specific: a close dimension is not a substitute. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation.

Identifying the Right Part

05065-01 is the Öhlins number for this position — the same one printed in the service documentation. Where no measurement is given, the drawing position is what identifies the part. Aluminium tubes are hard-anodised in the bore so the piston band has a hard surface to run against. Diameter and length together identify the tube — both are specific to the damper it came from.

Fitting and Setup Service

Ask us about a full service: as an authorised Öhlins centre we strip, inspect, replace what is worn and set the unit back to its specification.

Specifications

Brand: Öhlins

Part Number: 05065-01

Category: Cylinder Caps

Country of Origin: Sweden

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0949/7831/0410/files/05065-01_0b5cdc49-ede0-419f-9ac6-1dd4758f7b31.png?v=1788876294
