The ISS114LA is the aluminium clutch guard for the MT-09 SP: anodised at the tip, 160 g fitted. LighTech makes the bushes in 8 finishes for this guard. It costs a fraction of the lever it protects on the MT-09 SP.

Key Features

It costs less than the lever it protects on an MT-09 SP

148 mm guard length, measured from the bar end to the centre of the guard tip

Anodised rather than painted, so a scuff does not show raw metal on the MT-09 SP

LighTech part number ISS114LA, catalogued for the Yamaha MT-09 SP

Machined aluminium body with an anodised guard end

Adapter required for the MT-09 SP — ordered with it via the “Adapter” option

The Case for a Machined Guard

A guard that flexes away on contact has not protected anything on the MT-09 SP. The ISS114LA spans 148 mm guard length in front of the clutch lever of the MT-09 SP. The anodised end is a wear part and is renewed on its own.

Fitment

Catalogued by LighTech for the MT-09 SP and nothing else in this listing. The guard mounts to the bar end of the MT-09 SP via the matching LighTech adapter.

In the Workshop

Installation on the MT-09 SP starts with removing the bar-end weight. Re-check the fasteners after the first ride, as with anything at the bar end. If the MT-09 SP runs aftermarket bars, confirm the bore before ordering.

What Is in the Box

The package holds the guard, its bushes and the fasteners. Spare end caps and bushes are listed under their own numbers. LighTech keeps the ISS114LA in its spare-parts programme rather than treating it as disposable.

Before You Order

At LighTech the guard and the adapter are two part numbers; on this page they are one choice. It mounts to the MT-09 SP through a bar-specific adapter, because handlebar internal diameters differ between models. The part number you need alongside it is KPL311 (2021-2026) or KPL337 (2026), by model year. All two are values of the “Adapter” option — “With Adapter KPL311 (2021-2026)” comes preselected, so check it against the year of your MT-09 SP. If the adapter is already in the bar of your MT-09 SP, “Without Adapter” saves buying it twice.

Road Approval and Regulations

Clutch lever guards are rarely mandated, which does not make them pointless. LighTech supplies no type approval with the ISS114LA, and we claim none. On a road-registered MT-09 SP the fitted position is a matter for your inspection body.

Technical
