If you use your Yamaha YZF-R3 for track days as well as everyday riding, the K-Tech RAZOR-RR delivers the precise, adjustable suspension control that the standard unit simply cannot match — without demanding a full race-team setup to get the best from it. Built on the proven RAZOR-R platform and re-valved internally for track-oriented use, part number 264S-015-270-005 is a direct, no-fabrication replacement for riders who want measurably better feedback on both circuit and road.

Key Features

  • Track-optimised internal valving developed specifically for the Yamaha YZF-R3, offering a clear performance step over the standard shock absorber right out of the box.
  • 10-click compression damping adjustment lets you dial in the chassis for smooth technical sections or bumpier back-straight braking zones in minutes.
  • 16-click rebound damping adjustment provides precise control on direction changes and mid-corner stability across varying track surfaces.
  • Adjustable spring preload accommodates different rider weights and riding styles without specialist tools on pit-lane.
  • Length adjustment gives you the ability to fine-tune ride height, influencing steering geometry and corner entry behaviour to suit your circuit.
  • Nitrogen (N2) charge at 10 bar eliminates foaming and maintains consistent damping characteristics even after extended track sessions.
  • Straightforward swap for the OEM shock absorber — mounting hardware is included for a clean installation.

Design and Build Quality

The RAZOR-RR uses a 35 mm RCU housing with a 14 mm RCU rod — dimensions that provide a meaningful step up in stiffness and heat-shedding capacity compared with the slim standard unit. The 46-150 series spring (150 N spring rate) works in tandem with 48 mm of stroke travel to keep the rear tyre planted through the full range of compression. Both mounting eyes accept 12 mm bolts: the upper eye is 35 mm wide, the lower 60 mm wide, matching the YZF-R3's OEM geometry exactly. Preload range of 10 mm gives a useful span for rider weight fine-tuning without the need to swap springs between sessions.

On Track and On Road

K-Tech's internal setting for the RAZOR-RR is biased toward track performance — firmer compression and faster rebound baselines than the road-focused RAZOR-R. For regular track day riders on the R3 this means the shock works correctly from the first session rather than requiring extensive baseline clicks of adjustment to compensate for a soft road setting. At the same time, the 10- and 16-click ranges are wide enough that daily road miles remain comfortable; the nitrogen charge and sealed architecture mean performance does not degrade whether you cover 20 laps or 200 road miles between service intervals.

Fitment and Compatibility

This shock absorber is engineered specifically for the following motorcycle:

  • Yamaha YZF-R3 — model years 2015 through 2025

Installation should be carried out by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre. Specialist tools and technical knowledge are required to ensure the shock absorber is set up correctly and performs safely at its full potential.
