The K-Tech DDS Lite rear shock absorber brings genuine performance suspension to Kawasaki Ninja 400 riders who demand measurable improvements in handling confidence without compromising on engineering quality. Sharing the same core components as the flagship DDS Pro, this unit is built to race-derived standards and remains fully upgradeable to Pro specification — making it one of the most forward-thinking suspension investments available for the 2018–2023 Ninja 400.
Key Features
- Four-way adjustability across compression, rebound, preload and length for precise setup to rider weight and riding style
- 32-click compression damping adjustment for fine-grained control over how the shock absorbs impacts
- 32-click rebound damping adjustment to optimise rear wheel tracking and stability under braking
- Manual spring preload adjustment for tailoring ride height and handling balance to suit individual rider requirements
- Length adjustment enables geometry fine-tuning, altering chassis attitude for road or track use
- CNC-machined components throughout, delivering the dimensional accuracy and long-term durability expected from professional-grade suspension
- DDS technology with integrated potentiometer mounting points, compatible with data acquisition systems
- Fully upgradeable from Lite to Pro specification — the same unit gains hydraulic preload adjustment and the dedicated bypass valve when upgraded
- Wide range of spring rates available to suit different rider weights and intended use
Engineering & Build Quality
K-Tech designed the DDS Lite around the same internal architecture used in its Pro-level units. The primary difference is the absence of hydraulic spring preload adjustment and the Pro's bypass valve; every other component — the 35 mm body, 12 mm shaft, precision valving and CNC-machined hardware — is shared across the DDS range. This approach means the Lite delivers a genuine step up from OEM suspension in both feel and adjustability, while the upgrade pathway to Pro specification ensures the investment is never wasted as riding ambitions grow.
Road & Track Application
With recommended settings of 14 compression clicks, 14 rebound clicks and 7 mm of preload, the DDS Lite arrives with a calibrated baseline that suits the Ninja 400 chassis from the first ride. From that starting point, the 32-click range on both compression and rebound circuits provides meaningful adjustment depth for everything from spirited road riding to circuit track days. The 62 mm stroke and 320 mm overall length (tolerance -3/+3 mm) are matched precisely to the Ninja 400's swingarm geometry, ensuring correct kinematics throughout the suspension travel.
Installation Note
For maximum safety and to ensure optimal performance, K-Tech recommends installation by an authorised K-Tech Service Centre. Correct fitting requires specialist tools and techniques; improper installation may affect handling and safety.
